Advent Calender Change to V5 ??

question.. on the pop-out calendar.. how do you call it? a button in the menu? a link?

Good question...just had another look and the way the pics pop-in (only the ones that you have already clicked on) as soon as you click on the month is fun..or are we back to popping-out now?

I suppose button or link...which would you rather?

no remember how you DIDNT want it to be on the actual forum calendar? you wanted a seperate calendar just for this.

Im working on the HTML, but I relaized there isnt really a way to bring the calendar up. there needs to be a caller somewhere

Oh yes - now I understand...I was getting confused but if this is separate it can also be used for other things - well I assume so.

Yes we had it on a sub before with Days 1 - 31... and yes I understand what you mean when you say you need a caller...so button / link and where..??

I've been thinking of a caller Wormo and as obviously this isn't just for me, other people will use this Plugin as well so it has to be somewhere central.

I don't suppose a Button under the banner after Bookmarks and Messages perhaps- each forum having the possibility of calling it what they wish?? Is something like this feasible at all...I haven't a clue at coding so just tell me not to be daft!!

If images can be changed (obviously) and months (yes?) then the Calender can be used all year around alongside the calender that Proboards adds anyway...a lovely possibility for a forum maybe.

to make a link that will open a pop-up to an advent calendar, make an anchor element with class="advent_calendar_link"

you can put those elements wherever you desire

Now please tell me step by step what you mean with elements, what, where, how !! - I honestly do not know what you are talking about..

you get a choice between 3 ways to show advent calendar.

you can check the box in settings to have it appear on the normal forum calendar.

you can put an element directly in forum templates or header/footer to make it appear

you can put a link element in templates or header/footer that when clicked brings up the pop-up.



you have already seen choice 1.

to see choice 2, go into forum footer, or in one of your templates (like home) and add

<div class="advent_calendar"></div>


to see choice 3, go into headers or forum template (like wrapper) and put somewhere

<a class="advent_calendar_link">Advent Calendar</a>




it all depends on WHERE you put them. the link could go into a side box if you wanted. or the forum menu buttons. the div element could go under your shoutbox, or above it. its up to you where it goes.

EDIT: So I have now got

a) the Calender of course...

2) Basically how we had it before - sub and the Calender underneath... (<div class="advent_calendar"></div>)

3) (<a class="advent_calendar_link">Advent Calendar</a>) - Well I put the link on the Wrapper and it ended up under the Title basically - erm...on here it is just above where it says Tech Support...not exactly the best place probably - how do I get it alongside the Menu buttons - we don't have side bars or a shout box..??

Also got to check the image size to see larger pics..

A couple of members have mentioned that it would be nice to have an "English" Advent Calender which this year is fairly simple as it is from 1st December to 24th, although I would probably include the 25th as well.

Logic tells me that I just leave pics off where I don't want anything showing??

However that is in the air at the moment..

before the closing </ul> put <li><a class="advent_calendar_link">Advent</a></li>



as for blank images.. I didnt consider that would be a possibility so I have to put in something that doesnt do a cover image on a day that doesnt have a stored image. currently if you click a day with a blank image, it just shrinks the cover image.

Don't worry about the blank images - IF we go the English way I can put some kind of image in - we have done it 1st-31st December for years so I reckon we can carry on doing the same..

Bit daft, and dangerous for me, if I have to start taking/adding bits to a code !!
