When the creator of a theme or plugin wishes to make a comment on their own theme/plugin, can it somehow detect that it's their theme/plugin, so then they don't have to give a star rating? It looks somewhat arrogant and big headed that I 5 star my own theme, just so I can reply to someone's comment/review. What would be even better though, is if the above was the case, but we could also reply to individuals, so the comment would get nested. You know, as in.. ***** by User 1 [reply] Their comment or review just here yada yada!! If I then respond to that (the reply link/button would only show for the theme/plugin creator ), so then when I reply it ends up like so: ***** by User 1 Their comment or review just here yada yada!! by Stinky666 If you need assistance I'd be happy to help, just reply to this thread (link) and tell me the problem(s).

Hi Stinky666, I believe Tim Camara has some plans for improvements that are in the works, but this has been tagged as a request

Generally speaking, the library is not the location in which to have conversations. Starting a few months back, we've been moderating the library reviews, removing reviews that are not reviews, and are just asking for help. We've attempted to minimize the amount of these that are posted through various means (new text, the new help links, etc.), but some still get through. Reviews posted to the library should be a review of the item, and that's it. Trust me, I understand the frustration of having a negative review. The zombie plugin I wrote has negative reviews, or here's a review I pulled from our Android app: Negative reviews suck, but the review section itself is not the appropriate place to address concerns about a library item. Consider this, the negative review could have been submitted from the theme settings page, without ever having been back to the library at all. They'll never even see your response without us basically having to re-implement a frankensteining of posts and notifications.

Consider this, the negative review could have been submitted from the theme settings page, without ever having been back to the library at all. They'll never even see your response without us basically having to re-implement a frankensteining of posts and notifications. The most annoying thing about this, is the fact I fully understand what you're saying, and for the most part do agree with it (just the whole, having to implement notifications and such). I don't mind (well, I do yet don't) when/if someone was to review a theme by actually saying/writing words, and give it some harsh critique. That I am fine with. That way I could at least try improve it and such. It's when people leave a 1 star rating with NO comment at all. Perhaps some people are doing it by accident (it looked like this person had only ever "reviewed" my theme (no plugins etc). Instead of a reply system then, could you possibly implement something where by the user MUST give a response, and not just a rate? Maybe if they pick 1 star, the popup has a pre-defined message in it saying "What did you find so terrible about this theme/plugin?". And then if they give a 5 star, it do similar but a different message (obviously it'd do it for all starr ratings between too, 2, 3, 4). It's just frustrating (as I am sure you're aware) to give up your free time to make something like that, that you are proud of, only to have someone (or people) take the joy of it away, by giving a silly low rating without commenting It's horrible to think, that because of that one person, your theme or plugin will now not show up when someone searches for "highest rated" (near the top at least), all because someone rated without either 1) knowing what they are doing, 2) just testing the whole thing to see what it does or 3) being malicious. I see on your Zombie Plugin, you too have a "1 star rating with a no comment". You can't deny that is seriously horrible and annoying and even a bit frustrating... and.. haha this post ended up being longer than I had planned, apologies *leaves it there* Edit: Oh. My. God!! Not sure if people somehow, are doing this on purpose. I now have 2 people with 1 star and no comment lol This now means my them doesn't even have a 4 star!! Please guys you really need to come up with some solution to this so people KNOW what they are doing without a doubt. It looks like this person has also just done it by testing, or not realizing or some thing (my theme is their only rating/review - except no review lol)..

After talking the implementation over with Martyn, we think we might have a way to accomplish this without needing a ton of extra code. We do have a few other large projects currently ahead of it in the pipeline, so I can't say when it will be done, but it is coming.

Tim Camara Martyn Dale Stinky666 Soo it's been about 2.5 years since the last post, was wondering if this was still in the works? The empty 1-star ratings are very frustrating, as are the low ratings where the user didn't understand how to use something. It would be nice to have a system similar to Amazon, where the seller and other users can comment on a review. Or maybe something like what Verizon has, where the review itself is reviewed for fairness/accuracy before being posted. Either of these would be a great feature for the v6 theme/plugin libraries... imo anyway.

There are a bunch of library tasks in our tracker that have yet to be realized, but given the revisions to the library mentioned in the v6 announcement thread I'd very much anticipate this concept finally being revisited.
As a fellow library author I'm just as interested in these features coming to life as I'm still heavily invested in providing support for my plugins since I started creating them prior to v5's release.

I have to laugh at myself, as a couple of people had did a review on one of my plugins and when I posted a reply there, I just did a 1 star - because I didn't want anyone thinking I have a high ego of my own plugin - as that's what the stars from other people are for. I would just be happy if, as author, I didn't have to give it a star rating. As such, and really not needing any explanation, the 1 star I gave myself for my reply dropped my overall rating for it. Oh well - it was the first time I did that and hadn't really realized that my "rating" would actually be a part of the average rating. I guess I was under the impression, at that time, that I just needed to put something there for it to submit. As a result of finding this out, I have not replied to any of the reviews on any of my other plugins - because I don't feel like I should be "adjusting" the rating being the author.
