i dont think that its ntlworld as i said i have created another forum using proboards and the activation emails come straight through and so does the pswd reminder so if they come through from this forum them it should come through from my original one. my work email doesnt recieve the emails neither and that is on a totally different isp. the members who are having difficulty are on all different isp as well. i have no spam filter running its just no mail is coming through my main forum. i have noticed a few posts with the same probs are they connected and is something wrong else where as i dont think its at my end.

The emails are being sent out, as you have receieved it to a different account, and i have tried signing up myself, they are getting lost somewhere. Have you tried the password reminder? try that and see if you get the email.

I have new members having the same problem but they all seem to be using AOL as their providers. They've turned off Spam filters and check junk mail folders but still no activation key. It's a real pain because some of them don't have any other email but the AOL one. Is there anyway around this problem with AOL? Sorry if you all have discussed this before, I have rarely needed to visit this forum so I would have missed it if you did. So far just to get them registered I have been deleting them, then registering them using our groups email address. The problem here is they need their own email address on their account so I can email notices and such to them. BUT if they change the email we're back to square one with a new activation code being sent to the new address which is again AOL and they never get it! We've lost several members due to this problem. PS: I should tell you my board is for a group of folks overr 40 many of whom are not very computer literate so I have to keep it simple for them and to keep me from getting anymore gray hairs in the process!!

Please don't hijack other people's threads I'll answer anyways... AOL hates proboards for some reason... Have them get a free Yahoo! email... I might put something like the following in my main header...
AOL e-mail does not work well here. If you need a different email, you can get a free e-mail at another place, such as Yahoo! Sorry for the inconvenience.
Eh, that's just what I'd do... take it for what it's worth... respond in PM as I don't want this thread hijacked any further...

Unfortunate, i know this sounds stupid, but there isn't much more help we can provide. The emails are being sent out, i can verify that. Either the email provider is rejecting them, or i don't know. But they are being sent out. They may want to try and sign up for a web-based email account like hotmail and try.
