I would love to see the possible variables defined in the Help Guide or somewhere else relevant.
As it is, there is a "Loops and Variables" that lists all the possible variables, but not all of them are clear as to what they mean. Obviously something like $[user.is_staff] is apparent without explanation, but so many others are not. Surely it would help the users to just post a quick guide about what each one means and potentially about how it could be used. For example, I don't know how you could use the variable $[user.is_staff] unless it was in an {if} statement but what if it was a variable that I don't know? Not only do I not know what the variable means, I don't know how I can use it. For some variables, I tried to figure out what it meant by inserting it to see what popped up but, just as I explained there, that's not always going to yield results. Plus, trial-and-error as the only method for definition doesn't seem user-friendly, especially for the many who are still learning coding and need all the help they can get (like myself haha)
I know it'd be a big undertaking but words can't describe how useful I imagine this would be, for me and every member.
thank you for reading!

The section isn't labeled as advanced for nothing. You'll need a good grasp of HTML before you go wrestling everything in there. I imagine we'll have a list sometime in the future, but if you need to know what any of the variables do, you can simply ask any of us.

What about "can_admin"? What exactly does "admin" entail? Is it just top administrator or does it include moderators or does it depend on how you set permissions for each group?

That essentially means they have access to the administration area, so it would be members in those groups that are set to 'yes' for 'global'

Which variable would essentially just produce a member's profile number? Just the number, nothing else. I'm trying to create a PM User link on a custom mini-profile and I can't figure out which one of those is what I need. //posted this here because it's still pretty relevant to the original question. CraigThis thread is over 3 years old. Per the rules of this board, please do not necro old threads and start your own thread. Feel free to link back to this thread though. However, to answer your question, you can put this where you want it to appear in the mini-profile template: <a href="/conversation/new/$[user.id]">PM this Member</a>
