5th suggestion in the series. These two suggested modifications will change/enhance existing stock features. Both currently involve editing the direct UBBCode manually but this implementation would replace the need for this.
5.1 Suggestion: Create a Link
Instead of modifying the following to get it to load in the same window you can do the latter half of Figure 1.
Figure 1
This tool tip for 5.1 would simply and shortly explain if the intended link should open in a new or the same browser window.
5.2 Suggestion: Insert Image
Instead of modifying the following to tweak the CSS properties you can do the latter half of Figure 2.
Figure 2
When clicking either of the 3 UBBCode buttons a respective popup context menu somewhat like the prototypes above would appear for toggling desired options.
1. I mimicked MS Paint's dropdown for thickness.
2. Copied the identical color swatch that PB currently exists in posts. Same one could apply here.
3. Made this up from scratch but would allow style choices.
This tool tip for 5.2.1 would explain the option pertains to thickness of border.
This tool tip for 5.2.2 would explain the option pertains to color of border.
This tool tip for 5.2.3 would explain the option pertains to style of border.
If the user chooses to opt from the extra options there should be a "none", "cancel changes", or some kind of toggle to just allow a standard image insert. Thus, an assumed # 4 beside the style button would exist to negate the customizations.
By the way, the actual CSS choices would be up to you guys to integrate. Those are just dummy examples.
