I'm surprised this isn't there, but in fairness I rarely search for stuff so have never noticed it before. When you click the search icon when inside a board, and that board has 3 sub-boards. Why is there no way to select "search child/sub boards"? It'd be at the bottom though, and would work similar to how when you click the others "created by" for example, works.
For example sake, lets say I am entering a board called "Resources" and the sub-boards are as follows: Tutorials, PSDs, Misc.
Now, I click - in the main board - the search icon and open the popup. I now click the "created by" and it reveals a micro profile. I enter the persons name. Below this, it should also say "Search sub-boards?" It will be set as no by default, and will be a simple 1 radio button that once checked, enables the search of the sub-boards. A bit below would show all names for the sub-boards. By default ALL of those will be checked to be searched, because you have said yes to enabling the search of them. Of course each would have a checkbox/radio button so you can include or exclude it from the search results.
It sounds long, but it really isn't. It's still shorter/faster than going to the full search page.
If you're having a hard time picturing it, I could do some quick drafts for you to see.

Hey Stinky666, Not a bad idea, assuming it's possible with the current structure of the live search system (the particulars of which I'm not intimately familiar with). Boom - labeled.

Dang that was fast Thanks David. Hopefully it can be. The "search sub-boards" could be at the bottom below "filters" constantly, then when you click on a filter, the filter would of course load as it currently does and be above "search sub-boards"
