This is most likely just me overlooking it, but I can't find it. I want to ban one person's account from the shoutbox, and one person only. Is there an easy way to do this? Using the "ban" option on their post in the shoutbox, bans them from the WHOLE forum, and not just the shoutbox. That's very misleading in my opinion. Having that there suggests/implies to me you are banning them from the shoutbox only. Is there a way to ban just from there, or would this now be a feature request?

Hi, Try this
Add the username where marked in red - NOT DISPLAY NAME
To ban a user from shoutbox only!
Forum wrapper template or home template depending on where you have s[shoutbox]
{if $[current_user.username] != "username"} $[shoutbox] {/if]

This is definitely possible Stinky666, but I'm thinking you might be better off requesting it in plugin form for a more speedy result.

So, the ban in the Shoutbox definitely does ban you from the forum, and not just from there? Kind of weird how it does that. Not sure what the thinking was behind that, adding a ban to ban from the entire forum. After all, you could basically just click their name > gear > ban.

It's done that way so you don't have to manage two different ban lists, which could be confusing for most forum owners to try and manage two different lists. Most forums that are banning from the shoutbox would like to ban from the entire forum as well so it does make more sense to do it the way it's done (at least to me anyway).

There hasn't been much demand for a shoutbox ban function considering you can already prohibit access with the layout template workaround for those members who can't behave themselves in a chat room setting but are alright on the message boards. Beyond that, what with ProBoards forums not allowing adult content, if admins have a reason to want to stop someone from posting in the shoutbox, the reason is usually grievous enough to warrant banning them from the forum altogether.
Going in through the profile is 4-5 clicks and a pageload before the individual is banned and can't post in the shoutbox, but the ban link in every user's shout is 2 clicks and 0 pageloads.
