If someone is going to rate a plugin or theme with 1 star, it should be required they give a reason why. otherwise it looks like they are just doing it to aggravate the authors. or its personal. or both

1 star - Dusnt werk I understand the reasoning behind this but I don't think it'd make a difference TBH. I stopped looking at the rankings/ratings etc a long time ago. In the past: 1 star : something they can't do - (me)tell them to go to support for help - then get my plugin explained to me and what it should do in the ratings! 1 star : doesn't work - (me)WHY? go to support - Nothing... 1 star - in amongst a bucket full of 5 stars - have a look at this - www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/116And then the ultimate.... 1 star - no comment I just gave up with it..... (though the culprits are noted)

I always like when I see a thread I thought I replied in, only to see that I didn't actually reply in it >_>
But yeah, I'll keep this labeled as a feature request, but as noted above even that my not produce desired results.

Its not that Im trying to get a 3.5 instead of a 3.4 or anything. the numbers arent running my life. but its like you are driving down the road and some guy pulls up next to you, flips you off then takes the next exit and you are trying to figure out what the hell just happened? what did I do?
If they truly hated the plugin, or thought it was truly stupid and a waste of a slot, or it ruined their forum somehow, then I would understand the 1 star. but if they are doing it to get back at me for telling them no on a request idea or they dont like me in general or they just wanted to randomly drive-by 1-star a plugin... it puts those wrinkly things in my forehead.
initially I was going to suggest that authors be able to remove entries like that, but it has the potential for abuse that someone deleted any entry less then 5 stars to make themselves look better. as I said though, I dont have a problem with getting 1-star.. just freakin say WHY

We have a few updates in store for the library system involving ratings, I just haven't had the time to work on them yet. We have a few other things in the pipeline right now, but after those are finished, I'm hoping to have a chance to implement those changes.

Im not always polite. I have a sarcasm gene that activates involuntarily sometimes...
I appreciate your support. As I said, If someone wants to rate a 1 then so be it, I just want to know why. if I deserve a 1, then I deserve it.

I'd like to throw in my . I don't know how anyone could rate a one star on any plugin and I'm speaking for myself. I know very little about how to make one and have had people like Wormopolis help me with anything he could. If he doesn't know how to help he's still very polite, always answers me and has helped me so many times along with lots of other people here. I love the plugins, they make my forum better and even if I didn't like one I would never criticize it or rate it at 1 star.
I would practice what I learned a long time ago, "you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all". People put a lot of effort and time in making these plugins, the least anyone could do is be complimentary. Or if they don't like it for specific reasons, and not to just be morons, they could at least rate it neutral (3/5), and then comment to say why. Rates shouldn't exist, it should be comments/reviews only. When someone installs to their forum, it should be required that they comment on the plugin or theme, be it a one word or full review. Anyway...

And if I may add... just the mere fact that one created a plugin and then listed in the library, deserves at a minimum of two stars and if not stars, then a "thank you" from everyone.
Having said, if it were I, there would not be a rating system for plugins, but that's just me.

just the mere fact that one created a plugin and then listed in the library, deserves at a minimum of two stars That's only because you don't see the plugins that get rejected from the library...

just the mere fact that one created a plugin and then listed in the library, deserves at a minimum of two stars That's only because you don't see the plugins that get rejected from the library... I was assuming that when a plugin reaches the library, it was already accepted by ProBoards.
