just checked again, and chrome put out the promotion dialog as normal for me.

Im guessing since this could potentially happen (somehow), I need to put in a provision to allow someone to retract a move so that a member can redo a move.

In this instance it would not have mattered since there were two rooks able to take out the pawn/piece anyway.

I'm not sure allowing for a move to be taken back is a good idea. jmo, you are the boss.

Hi Wormopolis

Remember when I forgot to transfer the information on the keys to a new game? The partner I had in that game is still getting the Chess¹ bubble notification. The game itself was deleted and I would hate to delete all the comments in that thread as well to get rid of that, but don't know how to do it otherwise.

Is there a way to get rid of that bubble without deleting the whole thread?

If you have the newest version of the chess notification plugin, go into any game they are playing and click their stats box. it will bring up a dialog that will let you remove notifications they have stored. if they dont have any current games, the easiest thing would be to challenge them to a game, then either let them forfeit or play out the the new game and you can get to their stats box then.

I've been hesitant to delete any plug-ins after my disastrous mistake earlier. Will deleting the Chess Notification delete the bubble? Will the bubble carry over to the new plug-in if I upgrade?

(Both games I played with this partner were deleted, so I can't go into their 'stats box' - wherever that is.)

If you upgrade, their data will carry over (just remember to tell it to import the data). If they dont have any other games going on currently, then start a new game with them. then you will be able to access their stats box. delete the notifications that go to non-existant games. if you dont want to actually play the new game against them, just delete the thread without sending them a notification.

or yes, if you delete the notification plugin, all the notifications will go with it. but so will the records of wins/losses if that is important.

Thanks, Wormopolis for your help. It is always very much appreciated. There is a current game going on right now between other players, and so I think I should wait until their game is over before I try to do anything. I might mess up their game.

I just noticed that chess system kinda goes a little crazy when looking at recent posts... it apparently tries to run kingcheck on every board. so Im going to put something in there to only display the current game board and nothing else to keep it from lagging the load.
