I have just created a forum that is replacing another that is closing, anod one of the features that the current members love is that they have a diary and picture area, so I guess like a personal blog on the forum. Is there a plug in for this or is this something possible? Thanks for all info and help in advance. Here Kitty Kitty

You want it where only you can read/write in a thread?

You want it where only you can read/write in a thread? maybe, let me see if I can explain it better. On the current forum everyone has their profile page where they can add pictures and videos. Then on that page there is a link that says...I have a diary! people can click on it to take them to the personal diary, where the original poster can add comments that are viewed by all and others can comment on it. Let me post my page there and you can see what I mean. my personal pageAbove is my personal page that I can access from the forum. Now right under my picture there is a link that says I have a diary and people can click that to read what I am posting and reply to it. It doesn't have to be this complicated, even if there was a plug in to start a new board to include this. let me know if anyone thinks its possible or to direct me to one in the plug ins that is similar that would be great.

You could make a board and within each member gets a sub-board. Set it so only they can create threads but other members can post in those threads, perhaps. Then you could make a custom profile field where they input the link to their sub-board diary and style the custom profile field via layout templates (I can help you with that if you'd like) to say "I have a diary!" or whatever you want it to say and clicking it will redirect to the sub-board. Would that be a satisfactory solution to you?

Would that be a satisfactory solution to you? That might possibly work! Let me look at it later tonight and if I have any questions I can private message you? Also, I would have to do this manually for every member that joins and wants one correct? or would that be an automatic sub-board that anyone could choose if they please?

You can definitely message me. ^^ Unfortunately it would be manual, yes =/ Alternatively instead of a sub-board for them you could do one board and each member gets a thread, which they would be able to create themselves and takes the manual responsibility off of you.

You could do elfs thread idea and then make a custom field titled "I have a diary" and they could input their link in their profile and then the link would appear on the profile and miniprofile.

Ok I think I might have it but is there a way to make the link clickable when they put it in the custom field?

Yep! Change the custom profile field to Plain URL in the admin area for custom profile fields where it says (view/edit) click that then go to admin > themes > layout templates > mini-profile and copy that code here so I can see what you have. If you want it in their profile too, then copy admin > themes > layout templates > user profile > summary for me too
