So Todge. I'm just browsing Proboards support forums....when suddenly a wild bump appears!

I am curious....how does the retrieving thread ID's work? How does it know what's the most recent? I assume using the recent threads page......

That is his current dilemma. there isnt a way to know what the thread id will be with certainty. but a request is in place to get around that.

So you mean it has to guess what the thread ID will be? Why can't it just retrieve it after it's posted?? And what was the feature that's coming out to make this easier?

you have to push data to a key using ajax. the data isnt known until after the thread has been created. key pushes arent supposed to happen on page loads.

the feature involves how set_on works.


and if you quote me, you dont also have to tag me. I already get notified about the quote.

Does anyone know if there is a guide somewhere on custom mini profiles? I'd like to make some cool ones like the admins/people with them on here for the staff on my forum....

Also, I remember there was a plugin somewhere that stopped quoteception, as I call it. When you quote someone that quoted someone else or you, it puts the last quote in there too. I hate that, and so do my members. I know there was a plugin somewhere that stopped it, but two questions. 1) where is it because I cant find it. 2) Can I edit HTMl instead because I don't want too many plugins for speed....

Great question. I'm looking to see if it will look like the current side-bar I have in my test forum. Not so much way out there on the right .. but, where the side-bar is now .. and, to mirror the gradients/container the way the side-bar does right now.  Still messing with things ... I'm trying to see if once I post .. will it appear in the recent threads section ... no luck so far.  Although, I KNOW I must be doing something wrong.

Edit:  I just posted in the GENERAL section and it updated in the 'RECENT THREADS' bar....Now, if I can just get the RECENT THREADS ... to be INSIDE or just like the side-bar container made by Brian.

Also, is it possible to have just the thread title instead of also having who posted it?  It kinda makes it a bit long.
