Recent Threads Plugin Request ????

Hello,
If this is already around, feel free to whack me on the head with an internet fence picket and point me in the right direction.  

I would like to add a column on the right side of my forum for a recent threads box that would list 10 or so of the most recent topics posted in.  It would fall off the box as new posts are made in other threads that would be bumped to the top.  Also I'd like to be able to make announcements on a box above it.  Changeable options being number of cells (posts), height & width, etc.  I think I might be able to do this with the custom pages feature but wouldn't that require every page to have that?  And I don't know how to operate the custom pages tab anyway.  I can't figure it out....

So it would hopefully look a little like this.

So how often should I "bump" threads? 24 hours? Can't find it in the rules.

I believe this is not possible because the recent threads information is not available for the plugin to grab and display. It is indeed a widget on custom pages that you could use but, yes, that's not global. =/ You could make a custom page for it and link to the custom page in a sidebar, though, so at least it's 1-click away and is global as a link.

Hello again. I would like to add a homepage to my forum that wont be part of the forum or have a forum layout. I know there are custom pages but I am having trouble figuring that out and cant seem to put any content on it. I would like it to look something like this (obviously changed) but I cant even seem to find a way to put a title or image or anything. Any ideas? This could be done with the use of a Super Forum Key.

There are 2 drawbacks though, you are only allowed one Super Forum Key per forum, unless you are prepared to pay for more, and the 10 recent threads list would not be fully populated until 10 posts have been made AFTER the plugin is installed and activated.

The announcements section could simply be an option you can change within the plugin settings.

Todge is the person who responded as a coder, OP refers to you, I was basically saying I'd be interested in a code like this even if you weren't interested because of the 'cost'

I am glad you explained that cos I was thinking something else.

I also agree that this idea of an updating sidebar new post list is a good idea.


This is my first look at plugins - I know how to program in PHP, javascript etc. 
What is the difference between a key and a superkey?
Is there a how to create plugins site somewhere?

Yes, and maybe the ability to edit what goes on there? Like whether or not you want a announcements section and stuff. It would also be a great place to put ads.
