Creating a group for up to 6 different NPCs for each person is a LOT of groups. That would really clutter up my Groups page.

Creating a group for up to 6 different NPCs for each person is a LOT of groups. That would really clutter up my Groups page. You can move all of the NPCs to the bottom of the list since the member group list can be reorganized. That way they're not in the way of your actual groups. It's worth noting that this plugin was created for the express purpose of allowing two or more staff users to share the same non-player character without having to resort to account sharing (which would be a violation of the Terms of Service). If a character is only meant to be assigned to a single user I would recommend that user simply create an account that represents that character instead of using the plugin for that purpose. The plugin works the way it does and is made specifically for non-player characters based on observations and input from the staff of various roleplay communities hosted on ProBoards.

Hello, I was wondering, is there a way to make some changes to these profiles to show information other than gender, birthday, and location, or are they hardcoded for at least part of it? I was able to make enough changes to show other information, but it appeared to be set in the NPC List, so I wasn't sure what information would be changing, and if I needed to add new things that would be rough. Also, assuming this can be done, will this be able to be shown properly if other templates are being used, using the replacements you have listed? Thanks for the help, Ataro They're hard-coded, but since the source code of the plugin is editable you can easily change that. I highly recommend reading over the steps in this post if you're interested in adding more fields: support.proboards.com/post/6834223Plugins run on all themes so provided the NPC Profiles plugin already works on another theme adding more fields to it should also work on that theme. That helped explain how to do what it was I was looking for, which is great. Thanks again for the help, I'll have to work on this, and see if I can't manage to get this to the point I'm looking for. I really enjoy this plugin.

Actually, I just came across a new interesting idea.
I have some players who typically access via there smartphones, but this doesn't seem to work on there.
Is this perhaps due to the browser settings (or lack there of), and possibly inability to use javascript on the phone, or is there an addon I didn't notice, that allows for smart devices to allow this to work?

Plugins don't run on the mobile version of the forum. If they're viewing the desktop version of the forum it should work as long as their phone's browser supports Javascript. All of my plugins are designed for desktop use as that's the only version of the forum they currently run on so I can't guarantee equivalent performance on a mobile device.

Since each user will have multiple NPCs that would make more work than making a group for each user. So I am assuming there is not an option in the plug-in for what I am saying? Being able to assign an NPC to an individual user would be much better for me than assigning a group to an NPC. So many fewer steps to take. I think I need to show you an example of what we're explaining. Trust me when I say the method we're proposing is much easier. In the example below I have 3 NPCs: Brian, Michael, and Scott. To set up the permissions for each of these NPCs all I have to do is go into Members > Member Groups and create one hidden group per NPC. I never have to create another member group again after this point unless I create a new NPC. Once those groups are created I can assign those as the only required groups to use those NPCs in the plugin's settings. Just like with the Member Groups page I will never have to visit the plugin's settings again after this unless I want to create a new NPC. Finally, to grant a user permission to use that NPC all I'd have to do is visit their profile, open the Groups tab, then add them to whichever groups represent the NPC I'm granting them access to. And boom, done. You can add users to multiple groups at once so there's no need to make a group for every individual user who needs NPC access.
I followed these steps several times. But I still don't have the Sword icon that allows me to edit, change characters. What can I be missing?

What would i do if i wanted to add all of my member profile fields to my NPCs profile? There's a link at the very end of the first post of this thread that covers that.

Wondering if the $[user.info] text is showing up for anyone else when you click on an NPC's "profile". See attached. I know they don't have actual profiles but just wondering why that $[user.info] text shows up after "Warheralds".

I know they don't have actual profiles but just wondering why that $[user.info] text shows up after "Warheralds". If you've updated the plugin from a previous version it's likely you're using deprecated User Profile HTML in its settings. The $[user.info] variable was removed from the plugin in version 1.1.0 in favor of the data-item attribute. You can empty out the User Profile field in the Profile HTML tab of the plugin's settings and it should fall back on the default that would normally be in place upon installation.

Hi, I love this Plugin! Such a great useful idea and super easy to use. So firstly, thanks for making it! I had the initial problem of both Actual User and NPC mini profiles originally showing up but I think I've mostly fixed that. But it seems to be conflicting with the Mini Profile code we're using? Here's that thread : Example Problem ThreadI'm a complete newbie at coding so I have probably screwed something up while trying to fix the original problem, but if there's anything you can do to help, that'd be great. Thanks again!

Hello! I had added several extra fields to my NPC, but they don't show on the Mini-Profile or User-Profile. I tried adding them to the HTML code, but then I only get Age: $[user.age] etc
Mini Profile <div data-item="age">Age: $[user.age]</div> <div data-item="relation">Related to: $[user.relation]</div>
User Profile <table data-item="gender"><tr><td class="headings">Age:</td><td>$[user.age]</td></tr></table> <table data-item="relation"><tr><td class="headings">Related to:</td><td>$[user.relation]</td></tr></table>
Is this not possible or did I do something wrong?
I have the 1.1.3 version
