CSS Border Around Cats and Banner -For Aletha

I have tried using different codes here & some with my old code, but not getting any where.

It has a thin gold outline around the whole board & tables.

A different board I fixed up & used the same code on.
Did screen shot close to see thin Gold outline around tables not background.



Trying a Thumb nail see if it will work on here to click to make larger.......
It does bring it up, but then had to click that one on the + several times to bring to full size. lol

Aletha,

Those old V4.5 codes won't work but just changing the class to .container, I think will do what you want. You'd add this to the bottom of your style sheet.

}

The padding:2px can be changed to show more or less of the border. Is that what you are wanting?

}

Actually, Aletha, the css I gave you in my previous reply could of been changed going to:
Admin Home> Themes> Advanced Styles & CSS> Visual Editor> and then body, containers and adjusting the borders in your containers.

Awesome it put a red Border around the Banner box except down the right side.

So I changed the code to:

}

Now it puts the Gold almost around it all but the right side.

If it's possible to add the Gold on the right side.

Then I can go add the code to all 50 + Banners, every thing else is fixed with them, then I'll be done with that nightmare, Yep with all the other up grades I do like V5 now. lol

Almost done with the other stuff, I think.

Try adding a width in there and play with the width.

It wasn't centered, so I also played with all 3 numbers & got it centered.

 I'm so sad, I just want to give up, thought I was almost done.

I got back on my computer & my Banners are not working the gold is not on the Right side any more.

I have been working on this most all day.

I have re played with the 3 numbers again & again, to get the Banner the same size as the board, which I set the board at 80% a few days ago, so I could see some of the background, it was on 90%, put it back still wouldn't work.

To get the Gold to be on the right side the banner is off set to the right & smaller then the board part, tried to match it with the banner but both move.

It worked Great when I first did it & saved it, all was fine tell I shut my computer down & came back to it.

To have the Banner & board tables the same size I had to set the width at 1700, to make the gold thin to match the board I set it to 2px

The Board works Great, just the Banner want play nice.

It even shows in the display OK sometimes, then I go to the home pg. & it's missing the right side.

This is what I came up with & will not work now.

Try going to:

Admin Home> Themes> Advanced Styles & CSS> Visual Editor>Header(top)>Forum Banner>Forum Image and set the background position to center center.  I think the banner width should be set at the same width as your site, in percentages, except maybe a few percentages less to account for the gold border. Maybe try 79% to start with. Try that and see if that fixes it.

Back on the other thread you made for me, when I couldn't get in here.

Banner wasn't showing, had me set to show logo, it worked, then Banner not center I did that, went through all 50 + & set to both, show logo & Center center.
Re checked still on Center center.

I had also then set all to 80%, it was all aligned good with Header board Tables.

I just now changed to 79% not much change, way to short.

Banner is to short with board to the left, still set at center center, to get the gold to go all around the Banner.

To get gold to show, code set to width:1516px




Still Set to 79%,
To change the code for the board & banner to work with width, set code at width:1700px it is center & all match but gold not on right side of Banner only.

Aletha, I'm sorry, I don't remember all that was said in that thread and I'll refer to it again if need be. Oh gosh, it would have been nice if you had provided a link to your forum, guest viewable. If you don't want to post it here, would it be o.k. if you pm'd it to me and again, have it guest viewable?


The screen shots almost look like you don't have the banner in the logo area but if you do, we may have to move it to the banner area. However, would you mind if we tried this first and set your site's width to px's instead of percentages because this is the only way I"m getting it to work. If so, I'd suggest you set your forum width to 1024px (to suit those who still have a smaller screen resolution) or at most 1280px.

Admin Home> Themes> Advanced Styles & CSS> Visual Editor> and click width and put that in.

Then in the css I gave you set the width to be 99%.

Good idea. You aren't the only one who comes back online to see the changes you made before no longer are right. I'm sure it is because I forget to hard refresh. Let me know. If it doesn't work, to get your site guest viewable, you'll have to go to:

Admin Home> Settings> Forum Settings> Forum> and tab, "Login & Registration" and set it so guests don't have to login.

You have now made me Like V5 Change, I started not to even try to work on it & just move members over to my other board non proboard, now I'm thinking of moving them here. lol

Get my PM fixed up, then I can play with plugin's that look interesting. lol

The Gold trim meant a lot to me,
