Email notifications not working

Our system admin is taking a closer look at some stuff behind-the-scenes, Andy, but it's possible it might take some time before he gets a lead. I'll mark this thread with a label that signifies you're waiting on a response from us, so keep checking back for a reply from one of the support admins on this issue.

Several more members have reported that their notifications are down. Their usernames can be found here: tstoforum.com/thread/8019/email-notifications

I see that other forums are also reporting the problem. Thank you for working so diligently on this!

There aren't other forums reporting the problem. This isn't a wide-spread issue at this point, a few isolated incidents at best. I'll check the list against our log to make sure the emails have been sent successfully (as they have been in every case so far).

Edit: Every notification has had the email sent successfully. You'd have to look to your email providers why they are not being received and displayed. I suggest your members check their notification settings to make sure they have the notifications they want turned on.

Just wanted to update you, Andy and spiffshine - we have a few more leads now that are indicating a larger issue, and those might help us in nailing down the underlying problem. We've still got this thread tagged with the "Waiting" label, so we'll post back if we get any additional info.

I didn't see a waiting label on the thread, and was wondering if there has been an update. There are still several members (including one staff) who are not receiving email notifications.

Sorry for the delay, seems I've overlooked this thread.

We did find an issue in the mass e-mail system that would have prevented some from receiving mass e-mails (this info is relevant to spiffshine too) and fixed it, but the same problem shouldn't be occurring for notification e-mails.

Can you tell me more (like when the last time they received one was) or direct someone still affected by the issue to this thread?

I have posted a request that our members having this issue participate in this thread.

I have also spoken with Fraggle, our staff member who is having this issue. She has not received any emails for being tagged or quoted in at least two weeks. And she has only received one email (on 3/10) for a reported post during this time. I created two test reports this morning, and she did not get an email for either.

She has verified the messages are not being blocked by her filters, and checked her spam and deleted item folders just in case. We have the same email provider, and I did get emails for the tests, so they are not being blocked at the mail server.

I've been asked to post here in regard to email notifications.
I'm getting them for pm's and if someone likes one of my posts. I'm also getting the daily updated threads email.
I'm still not getting emails to notify me of being tagged or quoted.

I had stopped receiving all email notifications on 3/1. On 3/7 I started receiving them for PMs and likes but I am still not receiving them for being quoted or tagged.

Hey stacykan, sorry for the delay in response.

I've just replied to the thread on TSTO forum, and I Liked a post of yours with my test account. I confirmed you have your settings configured to notify you when a post has been Liked, so let me know if that goes through. You have [e-mail] added to your contact list, correct?

David Clark I did receive an email for the "like". I've been getting those since the 7th. I did not receive an email notification from you quoting me. It's quotes and tags that I am not receiving notifications on. Thanks.

Ah, thanks for the correction, stacykan - the thread on TSTO has been going on for a few days now so I misunderstood the current issue.

Let's try this - can you go to your Notifications settings in Profile > Edit Profile > Notifications, and then uncheck all boxes in the E-mail column? After that, re-check the boxes for Likes, Quotes, Tags and PMs (like you had before) and then I'll test out quoting you one more time. It's very strange that you wouldn't be receiving e-mails for just those notifications.

Okay David Clark, I did what you suggested.  I know Mitzytaz has the same issue and I think a few others.
