Forum URL: 13thzone.proboards.comokay so, i recently created a custom page on my site and set it to be the home page. thing is i want to add the recent posts widget but before that i would like to know if it can be modified or remodeled?! i dont want the widget to show me the whole recent post that was made.. just the thread name and the author without the post content. hope you understand where am getting at.. kinda similar to recent threads widget only i want it to be with posts. this is the recent thread widget: i want the same thing as that only made with posts, so everytime i click on it it takes me to the recent post that was made and not the threads first page. thanks in advance.

Hi,
I would assume it would do that, and work in the same way as on the forum itself. I will mark this for an admin's attention.

Hi prince_freeza, Being taken to the latest post isn't possible at this time; that widget basically acts as if you were clicking the name of a thread within a board which also takes you to the top of the first page. With that said, though, I've marked this as a feature requests for our devs to consider in the future

It's the same problem I have with posts returned in a search result, clicking the link should take you to the post not dump you at the start of the thread. It's only logical that if one is asking that results be returned in the form of posts not threads then one would be interested in the post and perhaps any surrounding post that may offer context so take me to page 112 where the post exists rather than dumping me on page 1.
I did write a code a while back to address the link for a post leading to the thread on custom pages. It doesn't however compact it to simply a subject (content is still seen but link is changed to go to the post rather than thread)
<script type="text/javascript" > $(function () { $('.widget-display_specific_post').each(function (num, post) { quoteURL = $('.widget-specific-post-buttons .quote-button', post).attr('href'); $('.widget-specific-post-thread-title .thread-link', post).attr('href', quoteURL.split(/quote/)[0] + 'thread') }) }) </script>
Drop it inside an HTML widget on that custom page and see if it partially addresses your concerns until Proboards gets around to addressing the problem themselves.

My apologies prince_freeza, the code I gave was for the "display post" widget not recent posts widget, I got confused between the two. The code makes use of the fact that posts displayed using the post widget also come with a quote button, recent posts apparently do not.
