as a continuation from my last thread on this topic, which Tim called "unproductive"... I still need an example that uses ajax to specify a member to get their info. does anyone know how to do this?? thanks /venting: Tim should've waited before calling the thread "unproductive" as I was learning from it. as to his comment about ads, he didn't seem to read that I had already gotten the idea and had considered against them. (I don't see what's unproductive about changing my mind)
I used to look at Tim as someone productive, but instead of discussing things over with me when I have questions that go against the TOS, I just get primitive responses that are just plain black and white...
I could work with him, but it's actions like that which make me down-rate a service and attack a reputation.
those types of actions also drive me to make something that people will like which is convenient for them, instead of having to be forced to use primitive terms for something free.
if things don't change soon, I do have my own free forum skeleton which I can host off my server, by which I can transfer the data from here, and do what I need to do.
but if I have to go to that length, I will be downrating proboards. (since Tim like things plain and simple, that's what I'll give him)
^ don't take anything seriously here if you read it.

You should probably give it a rest. I read your other thread, and while I'll admit it mostly went over my head (not a coder), one thing that was easily understood was the word "NO". But you don't seem to get that, and now you're threatening to down rate all because they won't allow you to break their ToS.

A wild Pikachu appears! Pikachu uses Hidden Tantrum. It's not very effective. Tim is crying on the inside. Tim uses Super Permaban. It's super effective! Pikachu faints. ...and is never seen again. Ah, lessons in life.

I'm following the rules, and just asking for an ajax example alright :/ A wild Pikachu appears! Pikachu uses Hidden Tantrum. It's not very effective. Tim is crying on the inside. as a continuation from my last thread on this topic, which Tim called "unproductive"... I still need an example that uses ajax to specify a member to get their info. does anyone know how to do this?? thanks There currently exist no legitimate ways to achieve this in the way that you've stated. This feature will rectify the situation, but has not yet been developed. Your best option here is to capture member's data as they submit/edit it, which circumvents the need to break the Developer Guidelines to achieve your goal. In your previous thread I also specified a complete method to achieve exactly the effect you're looking for utilizing currently available methods that doesn't violate any guidelines. /venting: Tim should've waited before calling the thread "unproductive" as I was learning from it. as to his comment about ads, he didn't seem to read that I had already gotten the idea and had considered against them. On the off-chance that your board still exists by the end of the day in spite of your mad determination to break the rules, you might try openkeyval.org/ or Google "openkeyval alternatives". They provide free storage and APIs for storing and retrieving data using a simple key/value system. They also give examples on how to use their code.

I havn't broken any rules yet for him to delete my board thanks for the suggestions, and I'll consider them if localStorage turns out to be too little space. If this thread starts to go down the path of your previous thread, I will not hesitate to lock it. I promise it won't Charlie has resigned. EDIT: actually Virgil Sovereign, I think I'll consider that idea for global storage. (redo my interface entirely)
