Experience based on character count

Hello!

I am looking for someone interested in and willing to develop an experience plugin for my board. The difference between this plugin and those that already exist can be summed down to two factors: 1) points are rewards based on character count (within a post) - not word/post count, and 2) varying rewards depending on the number of characters.

As an explanation would involve an awful lot of reading, I have made a picture to illustrate what I had in mind (although not necessarily looking exactly as shown below).

 
1. Points rewarded are to be placed within a custom field in the user's profile.
2. Points are rewarded depending on the number of characters written within the post (e.g. if you write 95 characters you are rewarded 50 points, whereas if you write 101 you are rewarded 150). Important! Points should not stack. If you write 500 characters, you only get 200 points, etc.
3. This plugin should only work on selected boards.

That's it! I have no idea how simple or difficult this may be to make (or if it is even possible) but I appreciate any help I can get.

Good question! It would be great if it could somehow calculate if any points had to be added or withdrawn, but for the sake of not making this too complicated, I certainly wouldn't mind if nothing happened (point wise) upon editing.

Of course, if it is possible to alter points in case you edit your posts, I wouldn't mind this either. It would certainly stop people from trying to cheat. But either way is fine by me! Again, I'm no expert with these kinds of things, so I'm not aware how difficult one thing will be from another.

In the meantime, there is a plugin called "word count tropies" you could use to entertain your members..

Oh, I'm not in any immediate need for this plugin. I don't plan on launching my board until much later this month.

Im looking at making a more advanced version of the trophy code to include a running points total system as well as a history of the largest posts. but I need to finish up some other things first.

Unless the point system works like in my example, I'm not sure I can use it for what I had in mind. I'll give it a look, though, once you're done! Regardless, however, I would still like for someone to make this for me.

It looks really great, actually. I think a lot of people will be able to use this. But I really do need a plugin for character count rather than word count, I'm afraid. Thank you very much, though!

Hi, I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, I love the plugin! It's amazing, I just have two quick questions for Wormopolis.

What does Writing Permissions mean/do? 

And is it possible to reset a certain member's accumulated points to zero or whatever they might have left? I'm thinking about allowing them to trade in a certain amount of points for privileges within my forum.
