Have any posts been made and removed from that thread? That would throw the reply count out and make the creature appear prematurely.
As for the permissions, I've been hearing about that a lot.. I'll add the key permissions to the plugin so you can set them yourself.
Try downloading it again from the same link.. You should now have a new 'Key Permissions' tab, select Staff & Members in all the options and all should be good.

Hi Todge! For some reason the intro text is gone. So now just the image shows up on the post when the creature arrives. Oo

Version 0.1.4 is available, it can be downloaded from the same link as always.
I have added another option for the likely-hood of the creature(s) appearing, so you can give them a 50% chance of appearing after reply 2 for example.
@greedsins, make sure you have no blank lines after your notifications, the code will see that as a blank notification, which is why I reckon the plugin appears to be skipping them.

Hmm. Im still having some probs. You see when they go to the thread the appearance notification pops up every time. Not just when the creature becomes active. So they think they have encountered the creature right away, and not after the first few posts when it really does add it to the thread. If its necessary to have a pop up come up every time someone views the tread. Would of be possible to have one notification set up where it shows the creatures pic..and I can add in something like... You have entered the lair of such and such..Beware! And they click on that and it just goes away every time. That might be better anyway because I can put in instructions on what to do with the pop up since they dont seem to want to read the instruction page. THEN I can have the actual appearance notification when it becomes active where it adds it to the post? ^^

Can you let me know how this works please Todge? Also I could still do with a way of adjusting frequency by board - so I can literally set up that Board name: City Center - 5% Chance of creature showing up Board name: Mashalleigh Wall - 10% chance of creature showing up Board name: Nickeltown - 90% chance of creature showing up

The settings should be fairly straight forward... When you start a thread you have the option to select a creature group, once you do that 2 more options will become available... The first is how replies you'd like the thread to run for before the creature appears, and the second is the chances of it appearing after those replies have past.. So, for example, you select 'Dragons' from the creature group.. Then you enter '5' into the next option, and 25 in the last, that means that after 5 replies there's a 25% chance that a dragon, that will be picked randomly from your list, will appear with each reply.. Once the dragon has appeared, it will then remain in the thread allowing your members to attack it.

I think so. I deleted my cookies and tried again and the appearance notification came up after their first post when you check the thread. I had it set to come in after post 3. I even took out all the spaces between notifications before restarting it.
Edit: I just took out my cookies and tried it again. and still got the intro after their first post. OO

You need one blank line between each notification, otherwise you may get several popping up together..
I'll take a closer look at the code to try and see why it should suddenly start misbehaving.

Oh i do for the attacks. But I took out the spaces for the appearance notifications just in case it was misreading the spaces as posts. I may of been doing this all along and I didn't know it since my co admins didn't help me test it like I asked. So right now im flying solo trying to troubleshoot. ^^

No worries..
So the 'only' issue is with the creature appearing prematurely?
