Hi TinMachine, I'll mark this as a feature request, but I have doubts that it'll be able to be added since PM's are meant to be accessible to those that are having the conversation. Because of this, forwarding would indeed be the best option. If you feel that some may not know to forward or how to forward, you can always make a help post about it on your forum so members can view the instructions

The only thing I dislike about forwarding is that it can be tampered with, just like quoting. It can be an unreliable form of reporting because the reporter could alter the message. A "report" button, however, is untouchable and the admins would see what was legitimately said. I'm sure, if this was implemented, it'd be a long time down the road buuut just wanted to say I support its addition in the future if it's considered! -pops back out-

It was more a feature request for here as I've received an abusive pm and had to forward it to an admin. As this place has such a large user base I thought it might be ideal. Something like that you could just add an admin to the conversation, then the admin would see it and it couldn't be tampered with. Everything would be there. Now that I think about it, adding a mod might be better.

I didn't think of that! Although.. then the reported member can see they just got reported, right, versus it being anonymous?

Maybe this could be made a hybrid in that a report button would indeed exist and it would merely tag a specific person or [staff] member group rather than needing a utility in the admin control panel like the reported posts --it seems it'd save time and back-end processing utilization. Of course it'd be the discretion of the admin in the control panel to choose who a reported pm would tag (such as just the admin, a specific [staff] member group, or a culmination of trusted members, etc.) when a member clicks "report pm". Remember that few things are still private on the Internet and I believe that if someone is harassing or crossing another member it seems quite practical to report it to staff so they can assist in resolving a dispute. So, yes, you sacrifice privacy in this regard but a member is aware of that when they deviate from the original intentions of a Private Message, which is between a closed circuit of people.

Private messages on ProBoards can't be tampered with actually. Once it's there, it's there. There's no option to edit or delete individual messages. Once you forward a convo, the entire convo gets forwarded.

Speaking of the reported pm (the one I had to forward) - I've not had a response from the admin I sent it to? Feel free to forward it to me
