Forum URL: kanez.proboards22.comThis is a pet board, mostly for pet gerbils, hamsters, mice, rats, etc. At the top of the main page we have always gotten advertisements for "rodent control" and "rodent extermination", etc. I, and many members, find this very offensive. Can't we filter out this stuff and get something else?

the adverts are designed to reflect the subject of your board - if your board was about zombies you would get adverts about undertakers - unless you can change the topic of your board or pay for ad free you can not really "choose" which adverts are shown.

I find the adds on my site a bit off at times too...it's for writers, and the most common ad is for lawyers and attornies...or travle agents...I don't get it, cause there is not a single mention of lawyers or travle on any of the posts on the entire site!
I've never seen and exterminator ads on my boards before, but I love and raise several animals of my own, and I would be very offended if they were to show up on my board. Unfortunatly, I think the poster above me it right, I don't think there is anything you can do about it other than make the board ad-free.

ProBoards have no control over the ads. Google do

that's true...I wonder if you could complain to Google about it...maybe they could do something to filter the ads better? Just a thought

Obviously, if Google wants to MAKE MONEY and not waste their time with offensive useless ads, they had best be a bit more circumspect in choosing what they present. A PET rodent site requires the elimination of ads that speak to exterminating or "controlling" rodents. Members of this board have complained about this oiff and on for a few years.

So in otherwords, Google thinks zombies are real??

So in otherwords, Google thinks zombies are real?? Sadly it goes by that. You can always put in your headers a disclaimer that the ads are not in any way supported by the board's members or it's administration.

I have noticed that at the bottom right of SOME of the ads, there is a Google Feedback function, and part of it includes "appropriatness" of ads. We shall see what response I receive.
