Forum URL: itsarevolution.boards.net/Since editing posts in Preview messes things up greatly(span tags are added everywhere and it's just a complete mess among other things), especially custom posting templates using the Style Tag plugin- I'd like to remove it from my forum. I know how to remove the tab using CSS, however, I want to know how to (and if possible/allowed) to remove the option from account settings that set the preview tab as default when going to create a new thread/post/message/reply. Please and thank you.

I'm not sure if you can disable it through the use of any built-in options, but you could use a bit of CSS to remove the Preview tab and the visual editor. Throwing this into the bottom of your CSS sheet should do it:
#menu-item-visual, .editor.visual-editor { display: none !important; }
.editor.bbcode-editor { display: block !important; } That would force the preview tab and visual editor window to not display, and force the bbcode editor to display instead.
You could also use a script instead, if you wanted.
EDIT: If you want to make the settings page look a little bit nicer, put this in your global footer:
<script>
$('.settings label:contains("Preview")').prev().remove();
$('.settings label:contains("Preview")').remove();
$('.settings label:contains("BBcode")').prev().attr('checked', true);
</script>
That'll remove the Preview option, and leave the BBCode option checked.

As I said in my OP, I know how to do that already (removing the tabs using CSS)- however, that script seemed to do what I asked. Thank you.

Keep in mind that you might run into some unexpected issues since the software is designed to use both those modes -- then again, however, you might not; just mentioning it as a reminder for you to try removing that code if any Posting Page issues crop up in the future.

Care to suggest a solution that WON'T cause problems then? I do not want the Preview Tab. It causes more problems with it than it will without to be frank. EDIT: Apparently the script did NOT force everyone's option to be BBCode since some peoples are still stuck on the Preview tab.

For the removal of the preview tab, that's just about the only method there is, so I wouldn't have anything else to suggest. I'm just saying that because it's not a setting, it's not an implementation that the software was necessarily designed to support, so it's possible some Posting Page issues might arise with that code in place (I.E. if some back-end function happens to go looking for the Preview tab only to find the element doesn't exist).

Being that I am only hiding the tab and not removing the entire function, there should be no issues. My question is- again, how can I force it to open on the BBcode tab instead of the Preview tab for everyone?

I'd like to suggest a feature request to add the option to DISABLE the preview tab in forum settings then.

We can definitely let our devs know that there is demand for the ability to do that.

Also with Trinity on this one. The preview tab often adds extra div tags in my coding and is notorious for breaking many posting templates that we use on the rp site I code for. It is also prone to breaking if Proboards is having server issues (ex: Err Bear), so when you try to switch to the preview, it may not load at all if the site is having errors (compared to generating the page again as with Proboards v4).
It would be nice to see the preview pane return back to how it was with Proboards v4 by reloading the page and not editing any of the code that was placed in the textbox.
