Forum URL: gardenworld.proboards.comA member contact me yesterday to say that she was being redirected on her home PC whilst being online on our forum to what is fairly obviously a dodgy Adobe Flash Player Site. Here is a screenshot I asked her which browser she is using and it is Chrome. Her OH then put the PC through scans - Anti Virus, Malware etc, (Pro Shield and Avast)cleared cache and didn't find anything. This only happens when she is on our forum. I have suggested checking the extensions on Chrome as well. This was only at her home PC but is now on her PC at work and until the situation is sorted she is not to use her PC for Proboards.. I am in contact with her through Facebook so that forward any suggestion there. Any ideas perhaps please?? RF

When something like this happens, it's a good idea to disable all browser extensions and ad-ons. Many times, you'll find the problem disappears when you do that. Of course, the first order of business should be to run a MalwareBytes scan.

Apologies for jumping on this thread No worries for posting here This topic is the only topic to appear about this, and before your post, only Rosefriend had mentioned this issue. Replies can only be based on what is posted. Now it appears it is not just affecting one person, it could maybe be a rogue advert. Are you getting the redirect at a particular forum, or across ProBoards forums? Also, as mmhmm suggested, try a malware scan, and disabling all browser plugins/extensions. If the issue persists, i will alert Martyn to an ad problem.

Apologies for jumping on this thread ProBoards does not use pop-up ads. There are only three ads on a forum that are authorized by ProBoards - a banner ad at the top, a banner ad at the bottom, and a box ad on the lower right side. That's it.

I went into a members profile when it happened to me, I tried to decline but the dam thing went on its merry little way, I ended up with lots of threats, and fortunately for me I got our Business IT company to do all the scans etc. My computer had to have a complete scan and clean up.
But... its happening across the forum with other members. We reported it, they said they had spotted the problem and that it was a proboards issue and they had made contact with you, if you wish I can copy over the message from the forum admin posted on our thread ?
Edit... Reply from our Admin...
Hi all,
We have spotted the problem, and it is actually an issue on the Pro Boards system.
We've contacted them, and reported the issue, so they are aware of this and are dealing with it.
Please keep us updated if it continues to happen.

It may be a problem with the ad provider. In that case, ProBoards normally contacts them to let them know there's an ad causing problems and the provider takes care of it. Don't know if that's the case here, or not.

Me too ;D
Martyn is running a check of the ads, so hopefully the culprit will be found pretty soon and annihilated.
