Forum URL: nhsi.boards.netDear ProBoards experts: Great product you have here - I appreciate any help you may be able to provide. We have an advisory board and we are looking for the best way to keep them engaged between meetings. Two questions: 1) Can these forums at the no-cost level enable a weekly emailed digest / notification that will spur members to get involved in current discussions? I saw some discussion about this in the forum (way back from 2013), and on the notifications settings page, there is grayed-out text in the drop-downs to indicate a weekly option is "coming soon." Just how soon would that be? (http://support.proboards.com/thread/458116/email-delivery-daily-digest-option) 2) Why do the colors we select for the secure sign in page keep going back to blue and orange? We've tried changing them to mint and purple three times, and at the bottom of the page, it says it's been auto-saved, but the moment we navigate away, it reverts back to the default colors. (This is odd because it appears to be auto-saving the other changes on that page including registration text, etc.) --> http://NAME OF YOUR FORUM/admin/settings/forum/login_registration

Hi nhsi, 1. An e-mail to all members can be sent by someone with the appropriate permissions once per 16 hours, so that would be one way to send a little reminder e-mail. Beyond that, members receive a daily digest of threads they've participated in that have unread content. That keeps them coming back on a daily basis at least. 2. I'm not sure on that one, might be a browser issue. Looks like you're in Chrome -- try opening an incognito window and logging into your forum in that mode to see if the same behavior is exhibited.
Scratch that, apparently it's a known issue our devs are already aware of. We should have that one fixed as soon as they can push out the code. I'll update you when I hear more on that.

Thanks for the reply. We definitely don't want to inundate our member's inboxes with daily email - getting an email to every reply to a thread for example would NOT be a good thing for this group. They are extremely busy, prolific people, so we have to be very judicious about how often we they receive a contact from us.
What we need are weekly or biweekly digest emails, and I'm happy to manually process these. Can you provide instructions as to how to push out an update or digest to all members, and how to globally eliminate daily or as-they-occur emails?

We don't provide a means of automatically compiling a list of threads to be pushed out to members. Any email services we don't already provide in Profile > Edit Profile > Notifications would need to be compiled and typed by you manually each time with the mass email feature.
All emails that your forum automatically sends are opt-in and listed in the Notifications tab of the Edit Profile page.

Thanks - looks like I will have to do this manually.
How can I as the administrator prevent the software from automatically sending members an email notification every time a thread gets a new response? (We don't want to ask our members to have to do too much in the way of customizing, as most are not web savvy.)
Thanks!

It's not possible to prevent the forum from emailing users if they themselves have opted in to receive those emails. The users have to go a bit out of their way to turn on email notifications to begin with, so for those who are not web savvy I imagine it shouldn't be much of an issue.

One more question:
Where can members go to access the documents that have been uploaded? I see a link in the admin panel for that, but we'd like to be able to distribute a single link to all members that takes them to that repository.
Thanks!

Users can only view your attachments via the posts they're attached to. There is no public directory for uploaded files.

That's too bad - would you consider adding a link that accomplishes this for members? (It already exists for moderators, so shouldn't be too difficult.)

I can mark this thread as a feature request thread, but it has to be accepted before it can become a feature.
