How to Edit Mobile Display

Hi there!

Just a quick question. I have set up the above website using the custom pages settings and made the custom page the homepage. Can I please confirm how I now change the display that is coming up on mobiles please? It is still showing the default proboards forum and I can't seem to find anywhere in the settings or layout templates that let me change this...?

Unfortunately there is no way to edit the mobile display.

Unfortunately, am just posting to confirm the above i'm afraid. As this point, the customization of the mobile view is very limited as it is intended to be a very streamlined version of the forum which is optimised for mobile usage. Members do have the option of switching to the desktop view via a link at the bottom of the forum, however, this is cookie based, so depending on the person's browser, it may revert back to the mobile view the next time they navigate to the forum.

However, I have heard that PB is developing a mobile view that will work better than the current one, and may actually run plugins, I don't know how customizable it will be, but it sounds like it will be better than the current one ( a PB admin posted some information in another thread )

Craig- Where is that link bro D:! I have never seen it before! If I can tell members on mobile just to click and accept that then that would be awesome start!

Mattyboi- Can you link that cause I hope so. Its the main thing keeping me off Proboards. Our Chatango is our main attraction to our site right now and if we moved to proboards half of our people won't see the chatango on the forum so I have been forced to stay where I am at which I am very unhappy with because the only problem here is Chatango doesn't appear on mobile use here.

Okay thanks for all the information guys! Is there any way for me to set it up so that mobile users are automatically sent to the desktop version rather than offering the link choice? That would the bypass any need to edit the mobile version?

Unfortunately not at this time, although that is an option they have talked about adding in the future.

Okay thank you. I've noticed that some theme changes are reflected in the mobile version and some are not. I have attempted to edit the mobile display using these changes and being more creative and I have almost got something that works... If anyone is looking on a mobile device they'll be able to see...

I just need to remove the icon on the left of the board and the top banner. That's it and I can work with what is there. I realise that here's no way of editing the mobile display directly but does anyone know a way where I can edit these things universally (I don't need them for the desktop display) so that they won't show on any display at all?

It's just that this is for a business and I've paid proboards for the right to use a co.uk url and to remove the ads - I just need this one display sorted to hide anything proboards from the site if you see what I mean...?

I am not sure why the icon doesnt reflect what is in your settings. They may be able to address that for you quickly. The logo, however, I am not so sure about as that would require a little bit more changing in the forum code. They have said they are looking into adding that option in the future, but I am not sure of a time line. There is no other way of changing it im afraid.

Thanks very much Craig. Yeah the icon is the biggest issue. Hopefully I can remove or hide the top bit too but I'll have to cross my fingers on that one. I'll await a staff reply. Many thanks!

The utmost extent in which you can edit the mobile version of the forum is the colors you can specify in Themes > Colors & Theme Creator > Customize Theme Colors. The mobile version of the forum does not inherit your images, nor can you remove elements from it.

Also worth noting: Hiding the ProBoards footer links (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, etc.) is forbidden as noted here. The HTML that generates those links must be visible and accessible on the page at all times. If you want to remove all ProBoards branding from a forum that's one of the specific purposes of Forums.net.
