I am seriously considering this as I am a gamer. I currently play on Xbox One. I've been gaming for probably 5 or 6 years now and kind of wanted to create a community of my own for gamers by gamers. I already have a couple ideas in mind for what I do want to have on the site, but I wanted to get some feedback from the general public.

So, if I were to create a gaming forum, what would you like to see?

A forum where people including guests can post completely safe and legal codes to copy and paste and edit and use etc. My name is Jason

I could be mistaken, but based on what I remember of Joilet's postings in General Talk they're interested in legal emulators & game modification, as well as 'cheat codes' to input into games. (:

If it were me I'd really be interested in a game forum that doesn't have separate sections for PC vs Console gamers -- there are so many game overlaps that information about Game A on PC is probably still relevant for the console version, especially since companies like Bethesda are attempting to make game modding available on console (see: Bethesda's E3 announcement). It would be super nice to be able to talk about (for instance) Dragon Age with people who play it on console even if I play it on PC, without being forced to post about it in the ~PC~ section of the forum. If that makes sense?

I'm also a big league of legends fan but I really hate the snobbery that comes with visiting the league forums & places like lolking to look for builds / people to talk with. A place where no one cares if you're a great player or not would be really awesome.

I definitely agree with you there! I certainly don't want to separate platforms anymore, especially with it constantly being in the talks that cross-platform play may become a thing in the near future. It would just be redundant.

I see what you're saying about coding now. First thing that popped into my head when you mentioned game mods was GMod/Sandbox. I love what can be done there. That would definitely be an avenue to venture down towards if I can find people who do mods and would be willing to share some tips and tricks.

I'd be so stoked for a modding community that isn't gross like Nexusmods. I mean I know pb doesn't have hosting for that sort of thing but I hate sifting through a lot of gross mods to find a handful of nice ones.

And yeah, cross platform play is gonna eventually be huge. We're already a step closer by enabling mods on consoles.

I'd love to see a gaming forum that does hand held stuff too. My favourite game ever is Pokemon but it's not really something "hardcore" gamers think of

That's true. I hadn't really considered handhelds, with the exception of games on smartphones and tablets. Didn't even think of a Nintendo DS or PS Vita or any others. Definitely something to add to the list.

I'm also entertaining the idea of the 'featured gamer' where I'd do some sort of interview with the selected gamer and do a special post about them with links to whatever, Youtube channel, Twitter, etc., if they have them, kind of to introduce people to more things gaming related.

I think the only thing on the site that I would do that would be separated by platforms would be a directory. If an individual wants to be featured in a directory by platform so as to get more traffic at their Youtube channel or whatever, that would be a cool idea too.

a directory would be cool, maybe sort by genre as much as possibleas well? Like I tend to stay away from letsplays and stuff of horror games so gamers that exclusively play them I'd want to be able to stay away from

or maybe if it's not sortable by genre have a small comment like

Bob the Gamer (mostly horror)

Maybe, instead of sorting by platform, just sort by genre because usually the screen name is the same or similar across platforms anyway and then just listing, like you said, some of the things that they're big on doing. For example, one of my favorite guys to watch on Youtube is a guy called MiniLadd. He does a lot of GMod and did a lot of GTA V. For him, I'd list probably his most popular content, which would make sense, and then link to a full 'profile' post that details anything else relevant.

So, then, I would just sort alphabetically.

I think community learning resources would be good too like, I just got into sims 4 and i want to learn how to mod but a lot of modders don't want their meshes changed so idk where to start.

Why would it be against the PB ToS? ;x The game itself isn't actually being changed at its core, 'modding' in the gaming community refers to additional content created by fans to add to the game.

Most companies support mods and the modding community, with the exception of games where modding could constitute cheating, such as in MMORPGs.

Yeah, that's why I brought up Garry's Mod. GMod lets you do modifications to games. There's this thing in GMod called Prop Hunt. I believe you can upload maps from other games, like Call of Duty, and then the objective of Prop Hunt is to find people who hide as props throughout the map.

You know what would be great, a LFG board for games

When I played WoW my gear was horrible and I never could run the instances I needed to gear up because no one wanted to queue with a noob / people kept needing on stuff I could've used even if they didn't want it; or league of legends gives bonuses for parties but I hate adding people I get randomly queued with because they wind up being awful.

LFG with a forum community I feel would be super because we'd all know each other to a degree and we'd not only have better synergy but more fun playing with friends.
