request for a header for Electronics-related makers!!

Hi everyone!

I got to here as a link from a forum post suggesting changing the default banner.  My forum is curious.boards.net and it's for people interested in Arduino/Raspberry Pi, which is kind of educational/hobbyist electronics (though some people actually do use them embedded into commercial products).

I'd like to request a new banner graphic!  It doesn't have to be anything complicated, just showing hobbyists having fun with maker-type activities, or it can show electronic boards of some kinds.  I am not completely sure about licensing, so I figure by making the request here, I'd get something I can use.

I'm just gonna suggest that you take the last sentence out before the mods come! If your looking to advertise you can do ity in the advertisement board. not here

Uh oh, too late. I am here.  I have to backup •?//L• here and you do need to remove that last sentence, curiousadmin , about signing up. It in the basic rules at the top of the forum that any solicitation for your site is not allowed. 

Is there a special size you want or any specific font styles or colors? The more info you give as to what you want, the more likely someone will be willing to do this. Please do remove that last sentence before you reply or bump. Thanks.

I took out the last sentence!  I read the rules at the top, I thought "any solicitation for your site" meant another web page - in this case the site is hosted by proboards.com (at boards.net).  There are no other sites involved.  Anyway I've removed it.

There is no special size, I'm a basic user, so a default banner size would be fine (whatever I can most easily swap into the existing theme.)  Regarding specific colors, I think a green (like a circuit board) would be cool.

I don't have any other thoughts about anything in particular that I need!  It should just be an attractive reflection of people who make things, out of electronics, or getting into starting to manufacture things.  just basic maker things

why don't you post a photo of what you describe you would like to see in your banner (make sure the stock photo is free and ok for commercial use) and i will see what i can do for you

Do you have an image search engine you can recommend for finding free and OK for commercial usage images?  Then I can do some searches and take a look.  Thanks!

if finding a photo is too much of a struggle
i can make something like that^^^^ if you want , that is if that one is not to your likes

I also like this idea of a lightbulb: www.pexels.com/photo/light-glass-lamp-idea-2396/ as you can see it's barely lit, showing that this is the beginning of an idea people might have.  It could be an element at the left.

So as a brief, the idea is to start with something similar to the above, and incorporate these elements which show design stages.

(I didn't find any free pictures of people collaborating over an electronics project, sorry. A picture like that might be appropriate if you did find one, but I didn't find any.)

yes, the name should be prominent on it  (Or whatever you think is best practice - I don't know if Proboards superimposes my title?)  I'm fairly new to proboards and using the default theme so far.  So whatever you think is best.  "Curious.boards.net" seems good to me!  (Since 'boards' can actually refer to electronic boards - a nice coincidence!)

HAHA, sorry about the typo!  I have a forum: it's at curious.boards.net which is great and memorable, since it actually deals with single-board computers and arduino boards.   So it's very very memorable and great.  I made a typo when I wrote curious.proboards.net.  I've corrected it in my post above (but not where you're quoting me).

and these pics were very different than what i normally do
i gave it a try but i think its no good to be honest
so, sorry if this is dookie
i just had no clue what to do or how to do it 
when i am not given a lot of direction i find it hard really sometimes, especially with tech pics like this

WOW!!!  This is an amazing, astounding start! wonderful way to incorporate basically everything I told you!!!!

You really know how to follow a design brief hahaha.

Is it still open to a couple of quick updates, haha???   If so I would have the following.

1.  Very, very important. I made a big mistake by not including this picture:  pixabay.com/en/raspberry-pi-computer-electronics-572481/ - I know it looks the same but people will recognize it as being the other part of the thing this community is about.  So if you could include this one on the right side it would be fantastic.  Just to explain.  The Arduino (which is all 3 pictures you have up now) is a small microprocessor, like in a microwave or a mouse.  The Raspberry Pi (the image I just sent you) is a complete computer.  The community is for both.   Please include pixabay.com/en/raspberry-pi-computer-electronics-572481/ if in any way possible.

2.  The light-bulb is perfect - but it stops at the hobbyist stage.  If we could put this picture on the opposite side:
www.pexels.com/photo/camera-photography-studio-equipment-9495/ then it would should the progression from lightbulb (idea) to hidden away in a finished product that is being sold!

3.  Could the title include ".net" so people can read and remember the URL: "curious.boards.net".  I liked the stylizing you chose so I would kind of leave to you exactly how to do it.  "Curious boards" is a good shorthand, it would just be nice it eh .net could be there too.

4. This is a really hard one.  I now you did it exactly how I told you, but someone told me the Green clashes with our board.  This is exactly true.  The Blue of our board is something that got thousands of visitors, and it's very reliable.  I'd like to build a very serious community who trusts us, so I can't really change it to Blue.  Would it be possible to recolor all of the green to blue?  Before I asked, I tried to see for myself if this might end up possible - the results could have been a lot worse, so maybe this is possible?

Just for my reference and yours, I did this by typing

>magick convert curiousboards.png -color-matrix "0 0 1 1 0 0 0 1 0" try5.png

after installing imagemagick and during installation selecting that it should install the "convert" deprecated module. (I'm on windows). I might have added the path for imagemagick, I'm not sure. I only include this here in case later I need to figure out what I did exactly haha.

You can also send me the original without any recoloring, there are a few options for me to try to recolor it.

I don't know if this is at all reasonable, you can use your judgment, I hope I gave you all the reasons for asking this! Only the first one is technical (including/showing the raspberry pi from here: pixabay.com/en/raspberry-pi-computer-electronics-572481 ) the others are about showing the whole forum URL, showing that it's also for manufacturers actually building a new product, not just idea, matching the blue of the forum.


Is this possible? Or is it too much? I assuem you have source files for all this.

I also want to say if you are still able to make these small changes I would really really appreciate it, as this is awesome work. If there's any of it (or all of it) that's impossible, let me know!
