Is there any way to get new fonts into Proboards? I'm wanting to add a font for Skyrim's runes of Dragon language, Dovahzul, but I can't seem to find a setting in the admin privileges for it. ...Of course, it occurs to me, the forum I was looking on, I'm not the main admin. *checks the admin privileges on a forum I own* Yeah, no. Can't find it there. I even tried looking for a font plugin or something. Nada. I'd really appreciate any help with this. I'll attach the font file, in case it's useful. Attachments:dragon_alphabet.ttf (14.59 KB)

Hey Bippwatt . You'd need to either paste in your Global Header (Admin Home > Structure > Headers & Footers > Manage (tab)) or in between the <head> tags of your Forum Wrapper ( Admin Home > Themes > Layout Templates > Forum Wrapper) template: <link rel="stylesheet" href="url-to-font-here" /> EDIT: Can I ask where you downloaded the font from? The easiest place to get and link fonts from would be Google fonts: fonts.google.com/ which allow for linking to your forum. The place you got your font from may or may not allow that.

Sorry for the double post, but I think I found a url for it, but I'm not sure. It's a link that leads to a download of the file I attached. (One of those "click the link and it auto-downloads" things)
But, one...I don't know if that works properly. Two, if it is...how do I use it? Should I just be able to open the fonts pulldown and it'll be there?

Bippwatt, The fonts for the forum are not the same has having fonts on your computer. The fonts for the forum (or any web site) need to be available to everyone that visits the site so everyone "sees" the same thing. This is done by a font residing on a domain with cross-origin resource policies enabled. A resource makes a cross-origin HTTP request when it requests a resource from a different domain than the one which the first resource itself serves. For example, an HTML page served from http://domain-a.com makes a <font> request for http://domain-b.com/font.ttf. This works the same for images, etc. In layman's terms, the domain the font resides on has to be open to sharing the font resource information with other domains. This is not a free venture, it cost the host bandwidth to serve up that font information every time someone views a page requesting that font. I would first try and see if Google Web Fonts has something similar to what you want to use. Fonts from there can be set up relatively easy on your forum.

Hey Scott! Thanks for the reply! That makes sense. Google Web Fonts does not have what I'm looking for here. Can I upload the font directly to my forum, since I have the font file? Or is there a site that I can upload it to so I can get the url I need?

Bippwatt, unfortunately you cannot upload to your forum. Other than that, I'm not aware of any 'font hosting' sites, but you're welcome to do a web search.

Bippwatt That wouldn't work either, it needs to be direct link to the font file for my previous post to work.

Nvm on that, I realized why that wouldn't work after I asked it...
But I did find something close on fontlibrary.org
<link rel="stylesheet" media="screen" href="https://fontlibrary.org/face/simple-dragon-runes" type="text/css"/>
This was the code that site gave me to use the font. But I still don't know how to actually use it in, say, a post. Assuming I'm doing this right, how would I type in this font?

Bippwatt You would need put that in between the <head> tags of your Forum Wrapper template. Now, all you need to do is use that font in the visual editor or in the style sheet like so (this is for all links on your forum, but you get the idea): a { font-family: "SimpleDragonRunesRegular"; } And lastly here is an example BBCode line using your font: [font face="SimpleDragonRunesRegular"]Hello, this is in Dragon Font.[/font] If you have any questions let us know.

Okay, so I put it in my Forum Wrapper (had it in my Global Header before)
So the <head> section of my Forum Wrapper now looks like this:
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" media="screen" href="https://fontlibrary.org/face/simple-dragon-runes" type="text/css"/>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>$[title] | $[forum.name]</title>
$[head]
</head> I got that down now...so I'm just confused by the style sheet thing. Do I need to make adjustments to that as well? Did I understand that correctly? If so, where do I find that? I don't think I've ever used a style sheet in Proboards, so I'm in very new (and deep!) water here...
EDIT: Found the style sheet...but now I'm even more lost. I have no idea where to put it in here!

Bippwatt No, you do not need to make any adjustments in the style sheet. I was simply using that as an example and if you wanted to use that font in there as well. It is simply the next tab in the visual editor, which you can find in Admin Home > Themes > Advanced Styles & CSS.Where exactly did you want that font to appear in your forum? You mentioned posts as an example, is that the only place you want it to appear? And do you want it to appear on all posts or do you simply want to choose at the time of posting which font to use?

I want it to be an option for posts, similar to changing between (for example) Times New Roman and Arial. I just want it to be useable. It doesn't need to be anywhere except for posts, however.

Bippwatt Ok then thanks. The easiest way to go about it from your description would be to install this plugin on your forum: www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/558To install a plugin simply visit the link above and click download. Download the file to a place you will remember, such as your desktop. Now go to the admin area of your forum and navigate to Admin Home > Plugins > Manage. On this page you will see an Import Plugin button, click on it and you will be asked to choose your plugin file. Choose your recently downloaded plugin and click finished once it's done uploading to your forum. Now in that same page scroll down until you see your recently installed plugin which is called Quick Reply BBCode Buttons and click on it. You will now be taken to a page that looks like this: Click on the Hire tab. And fill out the appropriate information you see in the following picture (be sure to link to a different image of your liking, I just included the default ProBoards logo as an example): Here is the text version you see above for easy access to copy/paste: tag: fontimage (required): url to image of your choosing hereattributes: style:font-family=SimpleDragonRunesRegular|size=6After you have filled in the above information in a new box scroll down the page and click on the Save Changes button. Next, simply visit a quick reply page and you'll see your new button (with the image you specified) in the WYSIWYG editor like so (the button is the ProBoards logo):
