Because the message in maintenance mode is saved from the last time you activated it, it will auto display the old message until you have changed it to a new message because once you activate maintenance mode the message is displayed instantly. If you have a busy forum there is a chance that members could get the old message before you have changed it to something new. I have had this actually happen and had a few members almost panic lol. Or they have caught it incomplete as it was auto-saved as I was typing out the new message.
It would be nice to be able to have have maintenance mode not being displayed until I can get a new, current message typed up and then activate it.
Hope that made sense.

Hi, Willow. Why not just clear the message prior to turning maintenance mode off?

Hi, Willow . Why not just clear the message prior to turning maintenance mode off? Because out of habit its just human nature to turn it off. Plus, it would still not remedy the situation of having an empty message when you turned it back on. Tho, one could type of the message ahead of time and paste it as fast as you can. Just seems like it would be simpler to have more control over the whole process. I love autosave on some things but this one always catches me off guard.
