Images In Board

Hi,

I was wondering how I can put an image where the "Threads:" "Posts" and "Last Posted By" are. I would like to actually remove the Total Threads, Posts, and Last Psted On for that board and insert an image there. 

I don't wanna do ALL boards, just some. Is this possible?

@tumbler ,

Are any of the select boards, with an image, going to be the first board in a category because it's going to get complicated if I have to remove the titles for threads, posts, last post and then add them back for the second board in a category. 

I got it working but you can see what I mean with the "Another Cat" board  in this screen cap.




And is this actually what you wanted?

I haven't quite gotten it worked out yet, I have two ideas:

Sort of like what you mentioned above, maybe the threads, posts and last posted on will be moved to the center? Not sure

The image could be below the title of the board?

Just to be clear, in the first case scenario, you don't want any of the actual text (threads, posts, last post) showing on top of the images, right?
I don't really get what you mean by moved to the center.

One option, in the above scenario, would be to remove that whole row of titles: Board, Thread, Posts, Last Post and then move the threads, posts and last post titles into the cell that has the actual data. Like:

Threads

That would take care of the "what to do if the first board in a category gets an image and now the titles in the columns make no sense" thing.

I don't know, really. It's your site so when you decide what you actually want, let me know and I'll tell you if I think I can do it. The options for rearranging a template are pretty much limitless but there are some things that I may not be able to figure out or may not want to do just because my time is limited.

So pretty much what I suggested too. I'll try to work on it later this evening.


@tumbler , Is there anything else you want done before I give you the board list template and css and of course, instructions?

That's perfect! One thing:
Instead of the Threads & Posts being hidden completely, is it possible to move them over to the left so it looks like this:

|Board name| |Threads| |Posts| (img)

Or something similar

I can try it that way but honestly, I think it would look odd...... but I can try it. 
Another maybe better option would be to just make the board images be hover-able to see the threads, posts, last post info. So in other words, if you put your mouse over the image it'll show that info. I say that before I have found out if I can easily work out how to do that.  

Edit: Got the hover working just need to tweak the padding and such but take a look and see if you like it. putteraroundviii.proboards.com/  Then if you still want to try your suggestion of |Board name| |Threads| |Posts| (img) I'll see if I can do it for you. The hover just seem a lot easier to do first.

Looks really good, my only question - I'm on a tablet most of the time, and others are too - how would that work out ?

So is it messed up on your tablet? The hover is done using css so there shouldn't be a problem that can't be fixed, however just shrinking the screen on my laptop, I do see something I need to fix. (Edit, the problem I'm seeing is a long board title messes it up -see board in cat "Fun Things") I'll try to take a look on my tablet later tonight (if I remember) but it would be great if you could let me know if you have an issue on your tablet and maybe take a screen shot, if you could, so I can see anything messed up.

O.K. so that makes sense and not sure why I wasn't thinking that way but you can touch it to show and then touch somewhere else to make it go away, at least that's how it works on the touch screen on my laptop. On my tablet you touch to show and then have to kind of drag your finger from right to left on the right edge of where the image was, to make the image come back, if that makes sense. Unfortunately, it doesn't come back by just retouching in that same area on either device but still, you can get it to show and not show.

I can go ahead and do a template with the posts and threads over by the board name but if I were you, I'd have it all on one line like: 

Boardname          Threads: 7        Posts: 12

But up to you. I'll do it like you asked unless you post and say different and keep in mind, not sure when I'll get to this. (I have a herd of family members coming in a couple days so need to get guest bedrooms ready, plan menus, grocery shop and such.)

Do you still want this or have you moved on to bigger and better things. My family have hopped a plane to go back home so now I'll have time to mess with this if you still want it.
