I really like the Slimline Info Center's general box design but want a slightly more detailed info center. I didn't want to ask on that thread because it's rather old and what I am asking for will change that simple design some. I have no clue how to make these changes myself so I am hoping I can get someone to create what I want or walk me through how to do it. Either way would work for me. 1. On the slimline where it says 'view our most recent' I'd like to put back in the 'recent posts' as well as the 'recent threads' so it simply has what the original forum information and stats had. 2. I'd like to add back in the title on the bar to read: "Info Center" I'd then like to add to the info center. I think a double line to separate the additions would look good without messing anything up that is there already. The next piece would be good done in thirds. 3. adding the legend to the info center ... 4. Top 5 Posters 4. this would be left blank but set up so if I wanted to add in the 'most liked posts' for example, it would be easy to do. If anyone can do this or guide me on how to do it myself, I'd really appreciate it. Any additional info needed, let me know. Thank you.

Is there a chance you could do a rough drawing of it in paint or something because I'm not quite getting exactly what you want. The drawing doesn't have to be perfect but just a general idea where you want things. I'll be happy to do it for you if no one else jumps in but afraid I'm not getting everything you are saying and don't want to start until I'm very clear about the vision you have.

I thought the written idea was done well but okay lol. Fair warning... this drawing is awful!! haha As you can see, it's mostly the same as the slimline info center. Adding in the title, one small additional change to it and a new box more or less added onto it broke down in 3 sections. The lines are important. Centering it all within their little boxes is also important. I considered it without them but didn't care for it. I noticed I can't count. The last 4 in my last post should have been a 5. Oh well. lol The Legend: I want the Icon above new posts and the same with no new posts. If you need to see that being done, you can see both the legend and the info center here: cwthemes.proboards.com/Hope this helps make things more clear.

A picture is worth a thousand words, as the old saying goes and so much easier to refer to when remodeling a template. It was probably more me understanding than you explaining since I was a bit tired when reading your request. But anyway, the picture is super helpful, so thanks for that. One thing I noticed about the slimline and what you want is the fact that the last update thread name, if long, will have trouble looking nice if squished in one of four columns. You can have a look here where I'm redoing the info center for another member and how the thread name filled the whole width of that cell and it's only half the width. (Granted, my test site is set to be 70% so not super wide.) Just a heads up on that aspect. I'll try to get at this remodel today and hopefully will have it finished before I go to bed if no one else jump in to do it in the meanwhile.

My forum is set to 90% but I can see how a long title might still be an issue considering I do have it on a 1/4 vs. the half. When I did have it on a half, the long titles did fit and even had room but not much. Limiting title length doesn't really work so... any suggestions?
I want all these things together and as compact, as I can and it still be neat nice looking and centered.
I suppose switching the legend and last update section would be fine. If you think it wise to have it on a half, perhaps taking out the empty section would work. I say this because it would only take a third of the space for top posters.
I can always ask how to add more content after the rest is done so I am not too worried about the empty section.

I set my test site to 90% and let me set it up like in your drawing and I'll try to compact the other cells as much as possible and see how it looks. If it's too squished we can change things and meanwhile, maybe my brain will be churning around ideas as an alternative if it just still looks too squished or as a last resort, go to your alternative suggestion. I wouldn't hang out here waiting though as I only have a few minutes, right now, to work on it. Just came back to say, I'm not sure I can work out how to get cats, boards, sub-boards totals in there automatically.

That second bit has been done on the slimline info center by Stinky666. The part of the code that was used to do it is: I saw javascript was used. <td width="20%" style="padding: 5px 10px 5px 10px;">
<table>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>
<b>Categories:</b> $[category.length]<br /><b>Boards: <span id="boardNum"></span></b>
<script type="text/javascript">
var boardNum = $(".board-link").length;
$("#boardNum").text(boardNum);
</script>
<br />
<b>Sub-Boards:</b> <span id="subBoardNum"></span>
<script type="text/javascript">
var subBoardNum = $(".sub-boards a").length
$("#subBoardNum").text(subBoardNum);
</script>
</td>
</tr>

I have to get offline now as I've stayed longer than I should and didn't get much done because of interruptions from people calling, but I do have the very basic skeleton and I mean the bare bones of the info center set up. I'll start adding in stuff when I get back. Oh, and I went back and edited my previous post but to address what you posted, I don't like stealing someone else's coding but I'm in a hurry now to go so I'll think about this later. Meanwhile, maybe you should pm Stinky666 to ask if it is o.k. if you use it, assuming that was Stinky's and not a admin helping Stinky. Gotta go.

and yeah, I read that Brian fixed a couple errors. I always make note on who does what if I can.

Alright, I tossed everything in there and thanks for getting permission to use that Cat,boards, subbies coding. Anyway, went to cross browser check and of course IE/Edge is not working like it should in the first row of stuff. Grrr, gosh I so hate IE. So am taking a break to eat some dinner and maybe with a fresh mind, I'll see the problem. Fixed the IE/Edge problemYou can take a look: putteraround5.proboards.com/While you are there, tell me if I missed anything or you want changes as I didn't go back and re-look at your drawing and read your first post to verify I didn't jack something up that you wanted/didn't want. Edit: Tanya , I'm almost done. I just need to find how the heck I ended up with a border around the legend and I know you want the "Recent Threads, Recent Posts" over in the next cell but do you want them side by side like in your drawing and also, so you don't want the "RSS Feed & Mark All Boards Read" anywhere at all? There are a couple other things I need to fix like getting the red lines to meet up with the dotted line but I would like your input first in case you don't like the look of it.

I didn't think there would be problems in IE. Wish they'd do away with a broken browser lol. Edge is no better lol I see a few issues so I'll go slot to slot or box to box. haha But first, an overall. For the most part, it looks like what I had but you did move or place, rather things in diff places but I'm fine with that. You were thinking on how things fit best which I do appreciate since the thought never crossed my mind. No clue what is going on with the border in general. Honestly, it looks like you ran into similar issues as I did when I attempted to put it all together. I can break stuff but putting things together... I haven't learned to get it right yet which is why I asked for help. Might be easier if I snap a photo and write in the issues. (some of which css can fix but most of it can't be fixed with css - You'll see what I mean in a moment) Hope you can understand that. I was thinking ahead on finished product when you said you were almost done. All my additions etc are in the blue ink. If you're still having issues with the box around the legend, I bet if we asked Brian, he could help with it.

I know what is causing that border around the legend so it's just a matter of finding the resolution so don't really need Brian (yet, lol). I'm almost ready to head to bed so won't get at this until some time after I wake up, but I know why the last row doesn't extend all the way. I set a pixel size to start with and forgot to change that so anyone with a larger screen res would see that being short. I'll get at that tomorrow and read your other info when I'm more alert but thanks for providing those instructions. Looks to be very helpful.

No worries, I should be sleeping myself but thought about this and then couldn't relax enough to sleep yet lol and lol@couple of those things. Always a bonus to have a sense of humor. Providing info is part of learning, yes? Eventually, I won't have to ask for help with 'all of it' but I learn best through others and I'm less likely to break something this way. I appreciate the help and I'm not in a hurry. Zzzzz are important I hear so... off to get some of those myself. Talk to you later. xx

O.K. Tanya , I'm back at it doing the things you want done but I do have some questions. 1. You indicate you want "guests" to be clickable when logged in but if they are logged in, they are no longer guests. Unless you mean if you are a member logged in it is clickable but either way, where exactly would this be going to? I mean guests won't show up anywhere except in a ip list. 2. Also you want the people online to be in place of where I had "Member Online Info". Will that be just for users online at the moment or do you want the online in 24 hours there too and if you want both, do you want any sort of a division there? 3. You have a notation "shows numbers" in the two online sections. I'm not sure what you mean there. 4. Birthdays is there but it only shows up when there is a birthday (I'm fairly certain) and should take you to members list birthdays. 5. You have in the users online in 24 hours that the whole things should be clickable. Where should it take you? 6. You bolded "Mark as Read". Not sure what that means and not sure if you still want Recent thread, Post and RSV Feeds in the next cell. Just need clarification on all those as to where you want them. 7. Last but not least, can you verify that you no longer see that 'too short on the right' of that last row. 8. I lied, one last thing, on your original drawing you had no border line to divide the users online and user online in last 24 hours. Is this still the case?

1. when I'm logged in, not the guests. That is exactly what I want. The IP bit. 2. Just members online. 3. exactly that, no different than what is showing except I do not want members listed. 4. I know that already. 5. to the members' list. 6. Nah, not bolded. added in because I forgot once logged in is when it would show. I didn't want to pull the image and re-edit the whole thing and hoped you'd realize that. haha. my bad. As to the rest, I figured what you had started was fine where it so just have it all there where you auto placed it. simply for you and still has what I want. 7. verified, I no longer see it. Looks so much better. and I thought I was a detail fanatic. hahaha. I tried to make it all as simple as possible for you to do by NOT asking for too much. The things you did on your own like rearranging and I know it is because it is how the default is set, looked fine so I didn't go and change the location on the picture. Based on what I see on your practice forum, the only thing I see that looks off at all is just under the boxes. Can you add a second line or perhaps css can fix it with double instead of the bold lining. (I might be able to do that part myself) Other than that the spacing seems small. will it expand on its own the more members that are online? 8. You're talking about the third row, I figured I'd leave that up to you. Whatever is easier for you to do. With or without lines, as long as the spacing is correct, it doesn't really matter. If it would make things easier so you're not trying to sort out how to cut pieces out of it... Use this setup instead. I can always place the top 5 and add in a blank section somewhere else on the board later once I learn HTML better. (and javascript since I noticed it is extremely handy at times)
