Scavenger Hunt [1.2.0]

Not sure if I should post this here or made a new thread, so please forgive me there.

I have previously installed this on my test forum to create an easter hunt using my own graphics.
All is well there and I was happy with the result.

I have now installed the plugin onto my main forum, copied the code I changed etc and all appeared to be okay, except that I noticed I had obviously made an error when the item detector image was already activated when the collection counter was at 0.

So instead of trying to figure out my mistake I decided to remove the plugin, by deleting both plugin and data with the intention of starting again.

However the keys are still there and have duplicated themselves and when I try to remove them it says "The key is currently in use by a plugin and cannot be removed" even though the plugin is no longer there.

I cant re-install the plugin and overwrite the keys as it says "Invalid plugin. Please refresh and try again" or "Unable to send image to attachment server".

How can I remove the old keys for this plugin??






Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I have 3 super keys although when I tried to install the plugin again it said 4 of 3 used.
I tried removing another plugin  that uses a super key so the count went back to 3 of 3 but I still can't remove the two SH_obj_amount and SH_Alerts_config.

This looks to be an issue with PB - I've seen people post about this before. I'd suggest creating a thread in the Support Board and link them to your post here ( support.proboards.com/post/7107794/thread ). The PB Admins are gone for the night, but will be back at 9am Pacific Time tomorrow - they should be able to clear that up for you.

My thinking was that by nameing the member who got the last item it levels the playing field if you want to give awards. That way some folks who dont have the luxury of surfing the forum alot can still get lucky by nabbing the last item.

Last item? If I'm understanding you correctly, you're looking at the "upper limit" as the total number of items that can be found, as opposed to personal count? If so, that would require another super key to track every time someone got an item and see if it was the "last item". It's already going to need another super key for the leaderboard to work. I doubt anyone wants to have 1 plugin take up 3 super keys and a regular key.

If I'm understanding you incorrectly, could you please elaborate?

Wow Im sorry I didnt know it was that complicated...yes thats I guess what I was looking for...but I was just dreaming. Its great just the way it is. NM.
Maybe anyone who wants to make a totally separate game...base it on musical chairs...so many chairs hidden on the forum and one by one they get fewer and fewer as they are found til there is only one chair left and that member wins!

You're not a bother. After all, how can plugin authors improve their plugins without feedback?

I have given thought to your idea and it might be possible using the same super key that the leaderboard would use (saving a super key slot) by storing that in index 0 - since user ID's start at 1. However, it would still require a lot of code re-writing. Let me get that leaderboard working first, then I can come back and take a look at this.

If I am able to implement it, it would certainly be added as an option for those who want to use it, while allowing other forum owners to have it turned off so it runs like it does now (no upper limit). Right now, though, my focus is getting the leaderboard to work.

Yay on the leaderboard work! That will be such a great added feature!

My two Forums like this game so well that they get bummed out when I turn it off for a little while to reset the theme. Every few weeks I change things up so we're hunting for different things and the messages say different little cute things. Right now as I mentioned earlier we are doing leprechauns. I just wanted you to know that they b**** and moan when I turn it off for a couple of weeks! So it is super super popular on my Forums. Thank you for taking it over!

Not the way the code is currently written. It would require some rewrite to be able to do that - as it only has the one field for the message as it is right now.

Were a Catholic forum...so I changed the candy to an immage of a simple single wooden bead. Now when our members find a bead the message tells them to pray a single hail mary. Since rosarys are based on sets of tens and a total of one hundred and fifty for a complete rosary. Our members get the benefit of making visiting our forum at least less of a time waster lol. And they can see a count of how many prayers theyve said.( To Catholics this is a thing for us)

Also, all these cool plugins we have -- will they go all away with the impending Proboards v6 upgrade? Will this game even be feasible on that platform?

What kind of prize could be awarded? I don't have any games that require coins, for instance? Does there have to be a prize? What size does the image need to be in pixels?

What governs the placement of the hunted item, it is recent posts, or can it show up anywhere? I'm trying to get my members to branch out and I have some wonderful older threads that are still relevant.

Sorry, but no ETA. Keys and I do not get along. Also, I'm not going to be able to work on it at all for the first 2 weeks in May - Ma's having surgery and won't be allowed to drive for the first 2 weeks of May, so I get to be the chauffeur.

Whether plugins go away or not would be up to the plugin author. Many may need a rewrite, to which the original author may be willing to do. Others may have to be rewritten by another author if the original author doesn't want to. I am hoping to have this plugin continue on V6.

Prizes awarded, if any, are solely up to you. You don't even have to give away a prize if you don't want to. All this does is track who has "collected" items. Anything outside of that is up to the forum owner.

As far as image sizes, I use a 32px by 32px for the Small prize image URL and a 64px by 64px for the Prize image URL. Both of those fields are found in the What's the Prize? tab in the plugin UI.

The item can show up anywhere. The odds of finding an item is better while within a thread, however.
