This is an extremely basic question but after looking around and even trying to search for answers I guess I am too much of a newbie. Please help!
I just want to invite new people (specific people that I have email addresses for) to join my new forum and go from there. Thanks.

Hi,
The only way to send out specific email invites is to disable registration. This can be done from Admin>Settings>Login and Registration tab. Once registration is disabled a box will appear on that page where you can insert specific email addresses and send invite keys to specific people.

Thank you both for answering, but my question is more: how do I communicate to specific people that they can join this forum? I'm not trying to force people to join my forum. I looked at that "advertising forum" you sent me (and did some searches on this site under Help), but I am not trying to increase traffic to my forum, I just need to let specific people know of the forum, then they can decide whether to join or not.
All I'm trying to do is use this forum as a way for people to chime in with their views, as opposed to emailing all of them and people getting a bunch of emails on the same topic. If there's a better/easier way other than ProBoard, I will be grateful if you let me know. Thanks.

Hi, My method will let you invite specific people but if you're just trying to let them know about the forum then simply sending them the link for your forum and telling them what the forum is for should be plenty of info. The link for your forum is what appears in the URL bar at the top of your browser when you're logged in, for instance this forum is support.proboards.comI hope this helps!
