As the title mentions. As a guest I can no longer view anyone's profiles without registering on the form or logging in. This proves a problem for those who enjoy following others to view their work. But it also is an issue to members like myself who personally look over other members profiles to make sure my content hasn't been stolen which I've dealt with in the past.
Before members could individually choose whether or not they wanted their profile visible to the public, but after looking at my own profile settings I see that my ability to do that is no longer available. In the roleplay community this can be an issue since it's common for people to view other members writing via their recent posts and threads before deciding whether or not to join the board.

Hello,
This change was implemented in compliance with EU's GDPR law. Since this is a matter of compliance with a law it will not be reverted.

No problem. As a heads up there will be further privacy changes being made as we ensure ProBoards is in compliance. If you'd like to learn more about GDPR, you can check out the full law here: www.eugdpr.org/

If you'd like to learn more about GDPR, you can check out the full law here: www.eugdpr.org/I am really curious about this as it clearly conflicts with laws/reguations in both the US and UK. Will PB be taking the GDPR regs over all other entities or not? For example, if you follow the GDPR, PB will be prohibited from having members under the age of 16 (as opposed 13 now which is based on US law). I know there are a lot of PB sites dedicated to US school's and that sort of thing. The GDPR (whether good or not) is far more restrictive than US regulations so how will that affect PB sites aimed at an American audience? Just curious.

I looked at the link Michael provided and in the FAQ's there's this: What about Data Subjects under the age of 16?
Parental consent will be required to process the personal data of children under the age of 16 for online services; member states may legislate for a lower age of consent but this will not be below the age of 13. While I'm not a lawyer, I would interpret this as PB being able to keep the age 13 limit as that is what has been legislated in the US. However I'm curious what PB has to say.

As far as I know this is our interpretation of it. Our legal team is, of course, also investigating all of the many new regulations and informing us of how we should best comply with the law.

So if in Europe members cannot be under 16 as has been said, but what if a member has already registered who is younger than 16. Do we have to remove them or seek individual permission from their guardian? Also can we flag a members age?
Cheers,
Flip

flipside, please create your own thread per the rules of this board as this one is from February, belongs to another user, and is already marked as resolved.
