Questions about Newsfeed / Sub-boards and others.

Hello guys, I'm back with more questions
I really want to improve my personal forum to look lovely.

1st question, regarding News Feed.
- It is possible to increase the height, I want to be a little larger and for the write to be bigger. Now looks like this (ignore the mumble jumble from writing no matter how many  times i try to make snapshot looks like that  the messages looks normal on forum.)



2nd question, regarding Subforums BBcode.
- So, at some of my boards I needed to make sub-boards (or sub-forums, or however are called )
While I was in /admin/structure/category_board I needed to put the bold code (can't put it here cuz automatically bolds the word) for the words to be bolded, and on some things like "moderator requests" I put the ON / OFF with GREEN / RED color, the thing is that on my forum looks like  this. Is there any way to camouflage the BBcodes but still be active.



And  this is how it looks when you enter on normal sub-board. (the problem is how is show on first page of forum on "sub-boards category".



3rd question, regarding Sub-boards switching between.

- So, because I already had all movies in same place, and made the sub-boards later ... they looks like in this photo. What I need to know is that if there is any way to move the down part up, and the up part down, like in picture shows with arrows



Well, for the moment thats all .. I know that there is a 4th and last major question that I wanted to ask, but I forgot
Meanwhile I'm curious whats the catch with those "guests" I had lots of them in last 24h but none said anything.

Today I "installed" Disqus on my forum ... and I don't want to have problems I'm petrified about you guys shutting down and erasing the forum =)) ... i know it looks like cr*p , but trust me, in some days I worked pretty hard on him.

Hello ZeroCool

In the future don't be shy about making separate threads for separate issues. The ProBoards admins prefer it that way. It makes tracking the progress or completion of each issue so much easier when they are separated. As long as you present each thread with your typical pleasant and courteous style, all your threads be welcomed.

Item 3 will be the easiest to address. Go to Admin Home> Structure> Categories & Boards> and you can click/drag the boards and subboards to whatever arrangement on the page you desire.


Your other items will need help from someone who has more skills at coding than I possess. For instance, the newsfeed text size might also require the container height to be increased. Brian gave this response in a different thread and I reckon one of the code gurus can include a line to specify the font size as well. But it's probably a good starting point.

Retread , regarded to my 3rd question, I tried before i came here and asked. But simply can't figure out how. For example I have main board name TV SERIALS, and inside I created 2 sub-boards: ACTIVE and ENDED. And when I enter on the main board TV SERIALS, this one appear on bottom, and above it, appear those 2 sub-boards, and really cant or dont know how to switch between.
When I created the sub-boards, i took almost all threads from main board and moved them to those 2 sub-boards, and on main board, I left only 2 threads, and because of those 2 threads now still appear on bottom. (threads that i dont want to delete).

Regarded to 1st question, now seems changed, it wider (bigger) not sure if the words are bigger or not, but looks decent.

Regarded to 3rd question, now is fixed, found it on forum here, can't belive it. Last night when I searched didnt found anything.

Now looks normally how would supose to look.


Now the unsolved one is:

The code in my previous post was something Brian wrote to change the container size. I was hoping one of the code guys might step in and explain how to change the font size of the text. I searched for other posts by Brian where #news was included and found this:

Now the news feed height is done, the font is increased. So the problem is solved.

Soo .. nobody know the answer for this question? ... it's like the only question left.

BBCode only applies to the display name of boards. The sub-board list below the description just uses what's specified in each board's Name field where BBCode does not apply.

You would need to use CSS if you want to style them, though CSS is only going to be able to style the whole name and not just parts of it. So you wouldn't be able to color just the part that says "OFF" for example.

Brian .. sorry probably I didnt explained correctly. My english is not that good.
I don't want them to appear in color on forum page, I just want to make those [/font] those BB-codes i want to make them to disappear mostly. All i want to see there is the [ON] TV Serials and [OFF] TV Serials. if is possible for the on / off tv serials to appear in bold will be perfect. I don't care for color on forum page. the color thing appear when you enter on that category.

What I tried to show in second picture was how that bbcode from main page looks when you enter the board, but i dont want to show the same on main board aswell, i know that is not possible. A simple bold maybe if possible, if not i dont care. the simple names of sub-boards is all that i want to appear.

If you know how to fix that, and you can make a short tutorial for a newbie will be perfect bro, thanks!

In each board's settings you have two fields: Name and Display Name.

Name determines what the board's name looks like in places where only plain, unstylized text is meant to be rendered such as the list of sub-boards below a board's description or the navigation tree.

Display Name is where you can style the name as whatever you enter here is only used in larger spaces that are capable of properly displaying more than plain text.

Remove the BBCode from the Name field to solve the issue.

FYI, for future reference, we prefer each issue in its own thread. One of the reasons is just this - so nothing is overlooked.

Brian .. thank you very much for this enlightenment First time when I created all boards I've read that info from the ? sign but probably I didn't understood EXACTLY what means
Now I changed all BBcodes from forum and now everything looks PERFECT. Thank you very-very much!

Scott , I never read that and i'm sorry. I didn't knew that it is allowed to do that. And I didn't wanted to make like 3-4-5 threads in 2-3 minutes, for my questions, I was afraid that will be called spam or something, thats why all time I prefered to put all my actual questions in one thread. But, from now on, i'll make a thread for each future question.
