Forum main page got redirected

Hi guys,

I've just had a weird experience when navigating on to my forum main page. As the page was loading it got automatically redirected to a different page which was clearly spam.

The URL it redirected to initially was:

someadmedia.com/out?out=https%3A%2F%2Fadvertisingfull.com%2F%3Ffid%3D11%26sid%3Dstream%26kw%3Dbuy%26f%3Dclick%26bu%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fsomeadmedia.com%252Fclick.php%253Fkey%253Drwa3dymt4senh619oqih%2526t1%253Dzone%2526t2%253Dstream%2526t3%253Dsubzone%2526cost%253Dusdcost

Without touching a thing, the page then almost immediately redirected to yet another page:


mcafeesecurity.application-center.press/3/?utm_source=dhara1&utm_pubid=7845c5df-82b1-4a71-a2f5-cb0c847dfcc5&x-context=w0UTP33VCVUJGJVEHIMI5IDK&xm=lm.qlnt4pyoyefrli9fu7x9d69my4.bid

This URL also came with a pop up box asking for me to click "OK" to protect my computer.
Yeah, like that was going to happen!

I don't even have McAfee on my computer.

I closed the tab and went back to my forum main page and this time it didn't happen.


Any thoughts?

Hi, Gene Hunt.

As mentioned in one of your threads from last month this is likely the result of an advertisement redirecting you. Our ad reporting system automatically detects when this happens and sends a report our way so that the redirect can be reproduced on our end and blocked.

If you have persistently been getting this for a couple of weeks, it may be worthwhile clearing the cache and cookies in your browser, and check your browser extensions, just in case any residual issue is in there which is continuing to cause the redirect.

Yep, all cookies and cache deleted on a regular basis. I'll keep watch on things as if the system automatically picks it up and reports it, it shouldn't happen again.

Just updating this thread (I'm not requesting assistance, just logging the issue).

I cleared all cookies and cache around 10 minutes ago. Then moments later while browsing my forum, I got redirected to the same page as in my opening post - albeit with a different URL. Hopefully the system picked this up too.

It redirects to one page that loads and then almost immediately redirects again to a McAfee security warning page.

The first page I got redirected to was :

Again, just logging this on this thread. 
It appears to be happening on a daily basis now, despite regular clearance of cookies & cache.

The latest redirect took me once again to:

antivirus-renewal.mcafee.com.oppucvrmcax7ccdr4dgtqiwebpdhia.bid/cen/index.php?x-context=wVAK6ICQ7A520CIF1VI36D12&xrux=t.n54ds6o8aw.stream&ca=7845c5df-82b1-4a71-a2f5-cb0c847dfcc5&geo=GB

This only happens to me when browsing through my forum, not on any other websites.

In answer to your question, I haven't noticed so will make a conscious effort to browse through a few other forums to see if I get a repeat of the redirect and post back with my findings.

Hello we experienced this as well today over at forum.aemodular.com. Really bad timing as we have just made the official announcement for the new forum and people tried to sign up and got phishing pop-ups or couldn't load the forum at all.

Apologies for the issue, looks like we had some bad timing. We've been working on the ad quality issues all day on top of handling the server issues.

I know you're new, but please review the posting rules for this board. You may have been experiencing the same (or similar issue) but we like users to always create a new thread for their issue. This helps keep support lines direct to a single user and you never know if your issue is exactly the same as another (even if it may appear that way). Thank you!
