Forum URL: bsn.boards.netHow does a person 'unblock' a person - that option doesn't appear to be available? Long story short: a member has 'blocked' a moderator who was moderating them for aggressive behavior. Obviously, the moderator could ban them, but moderator action short of that action would seem a more responsible tactic and having moderator tags and replies blocked seems rather counter-productive. This is not a 1-vs-1 situation, the whole of the moderation team is united in its puzzlement. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi, SofaJockey. Users can be both blocked and unblocked in Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy. Only the user themselves can modify their own block list.

Brian did a fine job of defining the mechanics surrounding the block process, but that still leaves you with some management issues. I've noticed the ProBoards Admins tend to shy away from making recommendations on which of many paths a forum owner might take in dealing with problematic users, other than to enlighten us on tools which are available. Personally, I think your situation would make an interesting topic on the Open for Discussion - Staff of Forums Sharing Ideas board. Perhaps you could start a thread there? I'd surely participate.

To clarify, we won't tell you how to run your forum as long as you are in line with the TOS and Community Guidelines. Pretending there is a one-size-fits-all solution will likely only create further issues down the road. While this particular situation might find the member at fault there are plenty of situations in which the moderator has become biased or abusive and blocking the moderator might be a sign that other forum staff are not paying enough attention to the issues between the two people. Alternatively it could be a simple healthy difference of opinion and a mutual decision to block a moderator or member to ensure the unity of the forum. Each community should take it upon themselves to work out their issues internally without relying on the opinions of people who don't really have time to investigate the nuances of their particular group.
