TapTalk Plugin Update? No Notifications.

I am not receiving notifications with the Taptalk app on my phone.  I went there for help and was told by Taptalk that "ProBoards need to update their Tapatalk plugin to resolve this issue. They are aware of it and said would be working on it soon."  How do we get the plugin updated?  How long does something like this take?

This would be something they would need to do, to the plugin on the forum, not on your phone, so when it is done, you shouldn't have to do/change anything yourself, hopefully. It sounds like, from the message you received that they are already working on it. I can't say a time on how long it will be, but one of the staff team will. If you check back from 16:00 GMT, one of the team should have responded.

As far as I can tell push notifications are currently working on the Tapatalk app.



Ensure that you have them enabled in the Settings section of your profile on the main page of the app, as well as ensuring that they aren't disabled for that particular forum in the Advanced Notification Settings.

They are enabled in the settings. I do not see anywhere on my device where it says “Advanced Notification Settings.” I do see “Group Specific Settings” and it is on for that specific forum. I only receive notifications when I subscribe to a specific topic. I receive none when I follow certain categories or forums.

Advanced Notification Settings can be found in the Push Notifications section of your settings. I've highlighted it in the below screenshot:

However, we do not currently support push notifications for entire boards or categories in Tapatalk so no push notifications will be received for these regardless of your settings.

I do not see what your pic shows. Different devices?  I am on an iPhone 7.  I should get notifications when someone post to a forum I follow. This is currently not happening. Here is what I see.

It looks like Brian's is maybe administrative notifications, by the looks of it.

He did mention that notifications for entire boards or categories are not currently supported, i'm afraid, so you won't get notifications for those.

I understand I can’t get them for entire boards or categories. But in the settings, and shown in the previous attached pic, it says I should get them when someone post to a forum I follow.  This is not happening. I only receive them when I subscribe to topics.

Regardless of whether or not a setting is visible in Tapatalk a push notification is only sent for a feature we support sending push notifications for. ProBoards forums will only send a push notification in Tapatalk for:

- New personal message received
- Liked post
- Quoted post
- Tag
- Bookmarked thread reply

Thank you.  I understand now.  It was confusing because in the app it appeared like all those other notifications were available.  Any updates on the horizon to include notifications for post to forums?

I'm not aware of any updates planned for this feature at this time. Sorry!
