Forum URL: expertshistory.freeforums.net/In the process of constructing a history for my group. However, have come across a problem.......unwanted material remains in a thread even after it's been edited (deleted). Specifically on the BOARD entitled "Administration, Contest Winners & Championships" using the thread: "2005 To Present". Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Edited and deleted are two different functions. Are you editing the post/thread or deleting it? Could you clarify, and then looking at the thread you cited, what content should no longer be there? Also, check your security log in your admin area, does it show the edits/deletions as being successful?

Please go to the thread "2005 To Present" and scroll down to where I've posted "IGNORE ANYTHING BELOW".......would really like this all removed but don't have any options to to so. Thanks For the posts you want to delete, in the top right hand corner of the post, click on the cog icon. This should produce a menu with various options, including Moderate. If you hover your cursor over that, a sub-menu should appear, with an option to delete. Click on the delete option, and confirm, and then that post should be deleted. If that does not work for you, post back

According to your forum's security log you've deleted 5 posts since Craig's response. Somewhere along the way something is successfully being deleted as it wouldn't be recorded otherwise.

Sorry to say, all the unwanted info is still on the thread. Guess it can't be removed, so I'll keep the notice saying to ignore it. Note: I was just able to "edit" the posts and removed all the information, but it still remains. That's okay, no big deal. expertshistory.freeforums.net/thread/2/2005-present

I was able to easily delete the posts with the exact method that Craig described above.

Must have been some sort of system glitch, because I've been deleting posts on here for several years and never had a problem. In any case, thanks for the help! PirateDave

dave4bb, this could possibly be a caching issue with your browser. After making a delete refresh the page with a ctrl+F5 rather than F5 or using the browser's refresh button. F5 may give you the same page even if the content is changed, because it may load the page from cache. But Ctrl-F5 forces a cache refresh, and will guarantee that if the content is changed, you will get the new content.
