hello!
I just set up a new forum to replace one that had crashed.
so most of those joining are not 'new members' per say.. they are old timers registering on a new board
fyi.. all of our old data was lost,, there is no retriving it, so we cannot use the old post numbers
so I would like them to not be labeled 'new members'
can I disable that feature entirely? or perhaps override the number of posts our returning members have made so they show as old timers?
or any other suggestions would be welcome!
thank you!!!!!

Hello littlehardrockThe Help Guide article for Adding and Adjusting Member Ranks should serve you well. If you have any questions about the details, we can talk more about it. For what it's worth, this issue would have been well placed in the Support Board, so a moderator might move it there as general housekeeping.

thank you Joey..
this is my first visit to this site, and I was at a loss as to where to post.
I did see that member ranking info you sent me.. it lets me change the names of the rank and then the number of posts it takes to get there....
but I make the re-ups 'ole timers' with 0 posts, then then actual newbies will also become old timers when they join (unless of course I am missing something)
so I am looking to get rid of the entire ranking system, or how to give the re-ups a bunch of posts right after they register on this new board which will make them old timers:)

We'll guide you through things like that as time goes on. Also, be sure to read the rules for the Forum and whatever board you might choose to post on. The Support Board has some rules that aren't intuitive but following the procedures there will make it easier and more efficient for us to help you. There is a way to adjust post counts by going to a specific member's profile and manually setting it to whatever you feel is appropriate. But that's not a process that can be automated. Perhaps you might like to create a group called Old Timer or Returning Member? If you make that a Petition group, then the group leader (perhaps yourself) would be notified when a member submits a request to join. The Group Name (and number/color of stars) would replace the group rank in the member's miniprofile if you accept them into the group. The benefit to making it Petition rather than Private is that any member can apply and you can verify whether they were part of the old forum. Here's a link to the Help Guide article for Creating and Managing Member Groups
