I have tried several times to hide my shoutbox from guest viewing with no joy. I found this post ( support.proboards.com/post/7134957) in a reply from a similar problem, but it does not work for me. Help.

Hi psboss The solution provided by rossi in that thread should work. In your Forum Wrapper layout template, you replace one line: $[shoutbox] with these three lines: {if $[current_user.is_member]} $[shoutbox] {/if} Since the link to your forum is set to private, regular members like me can't see it. Only staff members. So I can't view your page source to possibly see if you have some broken code somewhere or maybe a plugin that's causing a problem. Craig might be around today so perhaps he can take a look. If not, you might have to wait until the ProBoards Admins are online on Monday. Also, to be clear, you're referring to the Shoutbox that's managed in your forum settings, not a third-party Chatbox, right?

Thanks for the reply "Retread". That is correct. I am using the default "shoutbox". I am not using a 3rd party chat program.

I have one more question that might lead to a solution. If that doesn't lead anywhere, then I'll leave it to the staff. Guests view the forum only on the theme you select as default in your Theme Manager. (Not necessarily having the name of Default) Was the change you made to the Forum Wrapper layout template, in the same theme that guests use?

psboss , you have 2 themes on your forum. Changes made to the layout templates (or style sheet / CSS) only affect the current theme selected. So you correctly used the code that Retread gave you, just to the wrong theme. Go back to your layout templates and look for this at the top and use the drop down selector to choose your active default theme and apply the code change.. Let us know if you have any questions.

psboss, no worries, easy to miss. TIP: Go to your profile on the forum = (Profile > Edit Profile > Settings tab) and under Forum Theme, click the dropdown to select your default/main theme (even if there is only one listing) and then click the Save Account Settings button. This will "reset" what appears in the current theme dropdown for layout templates (and Visual Editor/Style Sheet) so the next time you need to make a customization you should be automatically on the correct theme.
