Forum URL: holisticallysecular.proboards.com/I searched here if PMs can be read by Admin & latest article was 2015 & the answer was No. Is this still the case? This question popped up in another hosting site & the answer was Admin could access PMs. I don’t like that. They are not called Private for nothing.
Thank you!

PM = personal message, not private message. However, admins cannot read personal messages unless they are included in the group message. If you and another member are exchanging PMs on a ProBoards forum, the admin of that forum cannot read those message.

Hi,
First off, PMs are Personal Messages and not Private Messages.
Personal Messages work just like email. Administrators and staff cannot read users PMs unless they are included in the conversation. PMs can be forwarded (again, just like email) and conversation participants are not informed if a included member of the conversation has forwarded the conversation to another member.

I used those two words interchangeably. Some places call them Personal, some call them Private. But I was under the impression they were the same thing. www.proboards.com/forum-help-guide/private-messaging "How to PM (Private Message) other discussion" Either way, the answer is No, Admin can not access them. So, thank you for that!

Yep, but still, means the same thing. Some people still refer to them as Private Messages. Newer people are calling them Direct Messages, even in the Proboards community. I'll try to use the correct term here in Proboards Support.

I'll try to use the correct term here in Proboards Support. I say "private message" all the time in my head and everywhere except ProBoards Support.
