I've been spending a lot of time on Twitch, which has led me to discover some really great and supportive communities. It went from being a thing I randomly visited a couple times a week to a social platform where I now spend several hours a day talking to people. By the way, I finally finished reading my huge backlog of books... in early March 2020. Worst timing ever. I'm going to check out this Twitch you speak of -I need someone to talk to and since I lost my BF and ...well...no need to go into family matters here, I could use 'friends'. There are so many options for free books -if cost is an issue- if not, well buy some new books dammit!!! But yes, that was irony at its best or worst!

Fun? Um, I guess splurging on some new books to read is my fun. Did someone say they were splurging on BOOKS? Really? For fun? You consider reading run? Can I adopt you? Yeah. Am I weird or something? Sure! Mommy.

Mostly trying to keep my daughter entertained. I think we're driving each other nuts at this point but I just keep reminding myself that she's rapidly approaching the age where she will want nothing to do with me. At first, I strove to keep a sort of educational routine in place and keep our activities academic-related. Now I've gotten lazyβwe just spent almost two hours playing Minecraft together.
When she's off with my brother or sister, I play games, read, write, and draw. I just purchased a new drawing tabletβit's the first one I've ever owned with a displayβand I've been steadily creating several really poor drawings a day.

I just love people who read and not many do anymore -so am I weird? I love to read and I also read because I'm reviewing ARC's so it's sort of my job too. Lucky right? And sorry but only my 5 cats are allowed to call me Mommy.

I just purchased a new drawing tabletβit's the first one I've ever owned with a displayβand I've been steadily creating several really poor drawings a day. Which one did you buy? I had a Bamboo for years, but now I just use my ipad pro and apple pencil. I've thought about a Cintiq or a Huion, but don't want to throw that much money in something that I'll probably use for a while and then go back to my ipad, because I like the freedom of using it away from a computer. I wish they'd come up with a high quality drawing tablet that doesn't require connection to a computer to use it. I found an app recently that allows you to connect your ipad to your computer and control the computer with the ipad, including using the full version of Photoshop, but the reduced function Photoshop app for ipad works fine for me most of the time. I've been using Adobe Fresco mostly, though. I love that it has vector brushes.

I think that might need a whole new topic/thread/post. I probably am weird in a lot of people's eyes. But I actually don't care. #IAmProudToBeWeird Yeah weird because I guess most people don't find reading fun and I do. I actually love holding an actual book not them tablet things and stuff. I love the smell of a new book. (Yes, that might be the weird thing in me. ) Lucky you. How do you get to do something like that? Oh, fine be that way. 5 cats?! That's a lot of cats.

I can tell you how to get free books but then I'd have to kill you...actually no I wouldn't. Too bad I'm really trying to hone my kick-butt woman attitude. Anyway -you would have to read the ARCs on a tablet, Kindle or Kindle app because not many places use DTB's as ARC's anymore. One - if you have a blog and already review books on a place like Goodreads or Amazon you are already halfway there. If you don't really want to review I would suggest LibraryThing ---https://www.librarything.com/home# they still give away DTB freebies every month with out you needing to review it. Of course the author would appreciate it if you did. There are other places also, but I'm not sure if you are ready for ALL of my wisdom...

I'm glad my 4 young'uns are all gown up now. Me? I'm never bored. I crochet, read (real books), river lark, bottle search, walk the dogs, garden, cook, babysit my grandsons...I have 6. Best thing about grandchildren is that you can have them to love and spoil for the day/over night, but then you can give them back!
I watch YouTube and Netflix too. Always something to do.

Sorry to correct everyone- E-books are "real" books. So-called 'real' books are now called DTB's (dead tree books). I have over 3000 books in my library (books I own) can you imagine what it would be like if they were all DTB's!
I never thought I would read e-books on an e-devise, I too was a book snob -I got over it really fast once I had my first Kindle in my hands and could see what it can do.

I have over 3000 books in my library (books I own) can you imagine what it would be like if they were all DTB's! Maybe 'real' books was the wrong term. What I meant was 'physical' books. I love the feel and energy I get from reading a physical book and I love 'turning the page'. I love the fact that they can be passed around friends and family too. I also haven't got to worry about charging my tablet, if I want to read now! I have tried ebooks, but I find I can't concentrate the same...and I sometimes get headaches and eye strain. Another good thing about physical books is that they can be recycled too.

Meryl I feel that same way! Plus sometimes w/ Kindle etc, you may 'buy' it but they can take away your 'book' at any time. At least that's what I read Re: Amazon's rights.

I am so freaken bored out of my mind. I'm going to cardiac rehabilitation several times a week. Yesterday I was so bored that I walked the mile to West Hollywood and just wandered in circles for like three hours. Everything in Beverly Hills is closed. The three mile park gets boring after a while

There is only one way Amazon can take away your book/s and that is if you are caught violating the DRM. However to each his own! I still read some DTB's that I still own when I can't find a reasonably priced e-book copy. And at least I'm not killing trees to own or borrow them. I happen to love the fact that there is a dictionary built right in, I can buy the next book without leaving my house or having to wait until it's delivered etc. Believe me, way back when they first came out I vowed never to buy one-but alas I did and even with that old-fashioned one I was hooked.
