I'm in a very red part of my state, so the mask wearing is about the same, as in minimal. Some people always have and always will, but they were a small number to start and they continue to be. I don't see it changing much, even if there was a mandate and you could be fined/arrested for not wearing one.

Slightly more and fewer people are huffy about it. I've noticed that the people who don't have one on tend to "forgot it in the car." Which is an improvement in that they actually have one.

In some areas governors are in talks about fining people if caught without them now.

Where I live (Melbourne, Australia), we're doing really well in the fight against this horrible virus. Our mask rules have been relaxed and we've managed to get through almost an entire month with no deaths and no new cases.

At this point, mandatory masks for a virus with a 99% recovery rate is ridiculous. IF you want to wear one, or if you have a high risk then I get it.

For the most part I see people wearing masks when I'm out grocery shopping or going to appointments. I don't know about other things because I'm always inside apart from necessary trips lmao. I'm kind of pleasantly surprised.

I see some people with masks and some people without, almost equal the number of mask wearers and non mask wearers.

People wear them to protect those who are high risk, and if only the high risk people wore them they wouldn’t have the same level of protection. Everyone without a medical exemption wears one at my place of work. Most people seem to in shops, although I can’t say with too much certainty since I haven’t set foot in a shop for over a month. It is mandatory in indoor public spaces here and businesses will turn people away if they aren’t wearing one and have no valid reason. “I forgot it” isn’t a valid reason, but if they say “I’m exempt for medical reasons” no one should question what that reason is. I suspect some take advantage of that as there aren’t actually many medical reasons to not be able to wear one for the short amount of time you’re in a shop.

I'm kind of pleasantly surprised. The same here. I don't think I've seen one single person without a mask in any of the places I've been lately. It is a nice surprise.

I keep hearing about the "recovery rate" and that is heartening. However, to be frank most 'normal' flus don't put this many people in the intensive care unit of hospitals, kill so many so often, they go away after a time (flu season) and most flus don't leave unknow and long lasting issues.

Not that bad here in Leith, Edinburgh Scotland and people are sticking to the rules but with a few idiots that they think they are the 'Bees Knees' and can't be bothered but they are the ones that get caught and warned or fined, some supermarkets around here security won't let them in unless they wear a mask and if they kick up a fuss then the police are called.
I don't have to wear a mask if I don't want as I suffer from asthma and COPD but I still wear one around my mouth area as I find if I cover my nose area it's hard for me to breath properly.

People wear them here when/where it's required. I almost never see people wearing them outside.

I don't ever see anyone without a mask. Chicago area.
In my suburban town in Southeast Michigan, the use of masks has remained relatively constant during the past 6 months. People have been wearing them consistently in retail establishments and even in the parking lots when walking from car to the business, and back again. On residential sidewalks we generally see people without masks, but there isn't much foot-traffic so the pedestrians usually don't encounter others. Likewise with cyclists. Early on, most retail establishments had well-supplied hand sanitation stations and employees wiping down each shopping cart after each use. That has practice has diminished significantly. A rare few businesses provide disposable masks (free or charge) for those people who forgot to bring one. But most just deny entry if you don't have your own mask.
