Forum URL: (private)
One of our members has problems with the “We Value Your Privacy” ProBoards pop-up appearing almost constantly whilst using the Forum, which renders it almost useless. No matter which button she uses, to get rid of it, it still reappears. Quite a lot of us went through this, some months ago, but clearing history, cookies, etc., resolved it. However this lady, user name cinderella, who is in her 80s, and not terribly computer-savvy, is still struggling. We’ve tried to help her, but have run out of ideas. Although British, she lives in Rome, and I have no idea whether that makes any difference, but just thought I’d mention it. Is there anything you can do to help her? Our Forum is her only real contact with the UK, and she is becoming increasingly isolated, especially in view of the Covid situation. Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated.

rosa22, that message is 'controlled' by cookies. Once the user click a button on the message, that action is remembered in a cookie stored in their browser. If the cookie gets deleted, they are presented with that message again. Since you say that message is appearing frequently for them, then I would assume the cookie is being deleted either by a browser setting or security extension or program. Do they have someone on their end that could help look at their settings?

That’s the problem, I don’t think she does. I’ve tried going through her settings with her, but I’m struggling.
Is there something specific I can ask her to check...in words of one syllable🙂?

rosa22, can you find out what browser she is using, and is her system Windows or Mac?

This is the third thread I have noticed about this, it affects me too, on one device. I have a new member who has 'problems with the forum' but I am waiting to hear back from them. I suspect it's the privacy statement issue mentioned by the OP. I haven't seen anybody saying the problem is fixed. Given there's been no changes to the devices affected, surely this points at something changing at PB end? FYI I am not reporting an issue in somebody else's thread.

I wondered that, too, VanWoman84, as it suddenly started to occur for, seemingly, no reason. Those of us who are (vaguely) computer-savvy, have managed to resolve it, but anybody like the elderly lady mentioned in my original post has been left struggling.

Hi again, Scott. Just wondered if the Browser (chrome) and System (macbook) info was helpful? Not chasing, just didn’t want my question getting lost in the ether! Many thanks rosa22

It still makes my forum unusable on one of my devices. If it's affecting me, how many others haven't even mentioned it, and just gone away? I never got a reply from my new member. They could have just given up on the forum. In these days of constant competition from other social media, that's not good.

Thanks for that. I’ve sent it on to her, but I don’t hold out much hope, especially if it turns out to be her own security.
We’ll see!!
