Forum URL: landetimidten.proboards.com/It's been a long time since I made this forum, so I'm way rusty, but I can't seem to figure out how to make notifications from messages and tags and so on appear on the navigation tree. They show up on the dashboard just fine, just not the nav. Help, please?

Hi Beedle If you're talking about the bubble notifications that appear above Profile, Messages, and Bookmarks in the Navigation Bar, I'm not certain the theme on your forum supports that feature. Can you provide a link to that theme in the Library or at least the name of the theme so I can do some research?

However, it's certainly supposed to support that feature. Could you maybe hint at whereabouts in the code I would need to look for it? As I mentioned, I'm rusty, but I used to be able to figure these things out myself, so if you could point me in the general direction, I might be able to fix it myself. Thanks for the help so far.

I didn't originally create the theme (a friend did, for me), so I don't think I can. No worries, Beedle If we can't sort this between the two of us, the ProBoards Admins will be online today and they have access to your Admin panel and themes, etc. So they can investigate and get to whatever is the source of the problem. If the Forum Wrapper layout template was stock, lines 19 through 34 would look like this: {if $[navigation.menu.notification.total]} <div class="tip-holder" onclick="window.location='$[navigation.menu.notification.href]'; return false;"> <div class="tip-number">$[navigation.menu.notification.total]</div> <span class="tip"></span> </div> {/if} If you don't see something like this in your forum wrapper, your theme won't display the notification bubbles. If it is there, you might have some other problem.

If it is there, you might have some other problem. So I had a look around the Forum Wrapper and this is everything I found with the navigation menu. It's much further down, after the code for my tabs, but it looks like this: <!-- <header> <div id="banner-container" role="banner" onclick="location.href='/';" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;"> <h2 id="banner"> </h2> </div> <a id="navigation-skip" href="#content" accesskey="s" class="aria-hidden" title="Skip Navigation">Skip Navigation</a> <a href="#" accesskey="d" title="Open Menu" onclick="proboards.hotkeys.activate(Keys.d); return false;"></a> <div id="navigation-menu" class="ui-helper-clearfix"> <ul role="navigation"> {foreach $[navigation.menu]} <li> <a {if $[navigation.menu.active]} class="state-active"{/if} href="$[navigation.menu.href]" {if $[navigation.menu.accesskey]} accesskey="$[navigation.menu.accesskey]"{/if}> $[navigation.menu.name] {if $[navigation.menu.notification.total]} <div class="tip-holder" onclick="window.location='$[navigation.menu.notification.href]'; return false;"> <div class="tip-number">$[navigation.menu.notification.total]</div> <span class="tip"></span> </div> {/if} </a> </li> {/foreach} <li> <a href ="/posts/recent"> Seneste posts </a> </li> </ul> </div> </header>--> Any idea what the problem might be?

Beedle , everything between <!-- and --> is just a comment. Its only purpose is as notes or reminders to the person writing the coding. That entire section has been turned into a comment and won't perform any function.

That entire section has been turned into a comment and won't perform any function. Aha! I get it, then. Just tried removing the <!-- and -->, but apparently she who coded my navigaton tree made an alternative navigation tree somewhere else in the code, to have it floating below the tabs. I found it, though, and tried removing it to be sure that was it. So the nav dissapeared. Right. I have now replaced her code with your code and there are still no notifications, sadly.

Beedle, if you would like to export that theme to your computer then attach it to a post in this thread, I could install it on a test forum and examine it for a possible fix.

Hey Retread, thanks for your attempts! Someone else helped me out with the wrapper and fixed the problem. It's fully functioning now. Just wanted to say thanks.
