I heard about v6 coming out, and since its most likely phase out v5 (who knows?), how do you feel about v5 going away?

I will definitely miss V5. Am not a fan of the round avatars and the floating functional activity button.

I'm going to miss V5 badly. I just don't know if I really want to change from it yet. Oh well, at least I have 24 months to get used to v6 before I have to leave v5 forever.

I will definitely miss V5. Am not a fan of the round avatars and the floating functional activity button. I'll miss it too, but for other reasons. I don't mind the Floating Action Button. I dislike the round avatars but that will be easily changed in the theme (although the ability to change that in the Easy Editor is broken atm). For me, the biggest reason I'll miss v5 is the familiarity I have with it. I'll eventually become comfortable with v6, but that will take time. Probably all of the 18 months of overlap. Maybe more.

Honestly, I will probably miss it because I don't like learning new things or losing elements that I had in other versions. Will I miss it for any other reason? Probably not.

I think v6 should be made optional and I don't like the look of v6 and I prefer v5

That's just what they said when v4 came out. And here we are.
I still miss v3. V5 and v6 are better of course, but you miss it for the nostalgia.

Not to mention I'm sure you'll be able to fully customize it to bring things you missed back. Change is scary but we adapt.

While not at the moment when it comes out, someone will include a theme that acts like the original one, or maybe when it comes out, v6 allows to have the "classic" theme style in the themes settings. Who knows how it will happen.

No I dislike v6 because it looks like tapatalk and its more like a social media than a forum now...😞

So... I was once very active on this forum years ago. At the time, v5 was the buzz and we were all thrilled and excited to see what changes the team at ProBoards would come up with. The new version was being hyped and I even remember threads and talk that felt similar to what we are now seeing again; many members were worried and even opposed to the new version, fearing a loss of their themes, plugins and even forums in their entirety. There were a lot of theories and misconceptions regarding what would change and what would stay the same. Sadly, I missed out on the launch and thrill of v5 due to a two year absence I took at the time. But when I came back, v5 was fully functional, many of the members of this community had adjusted and it almost felt as though it had been this way the whole time.
I smile as I read these threads popping up again, feeling almost a sense of déjà vu; certainly there is fear of the unknown, of change and of adjustments to what we have considered to be foundational in regards to the user experience of navigating and contributing to our favorite forums, but this isn't the first time I've seen such reactions, and I'm sure the staff of ProBoards would agree and each version update has brought with it the same adrenaline rush we are seeing now. And when the version after 6 starts flying off the rumor mill, we will again see ourselves reacting to change in the future; as we become used to v6 and learn how much we truly love the new updates, we will hold onto it as we did with v5, and v4, and each version previous, not wanting things to change.
This is human nature and it doesn't make us any less valid, but just know that you aren't alone in how you feel. Each version seems to bring with it a new generation of internet users. My millennial generation saw lots of exciting technological advancements from basic internet access to mobile device navigation and social media explosion. Our next generation of users may not have remembered a time before social media and may even wonder what ProBoards and other forum software is even needed for. But I can reassure everyone that this great community will continue to be around for years to come, regardless of what scary changes lie ahead.
So, I don't have any emotions regarding the upcoming changes that are negative. I'm still discovered new features with v5 and will continue to be surprised by what else has been new and exciting. Keep our heads up and our minds open and the next version, like the many before, will show us that it will be okay, that we will be able to navigate through safely and that we will always have a wonderful support team here on this forum, ready to help you.

I don’t know half of what v5 can do, so chances are I’ll either not notice or not learn what I can do with the changes. This is the only pb forum I still visit, so as long as I can still reply in the same way I’m really not fussed.
