Forum URL: vapinginaustralia.com
We have our standard Proboards forum redirected to the above custom domain ... It was my belief previously that if for some obscure reason the custom domain is not available then the forum can still be reached by our members by using the root address of iquit.freeforums.net/ However one of our members reports that the custom domain had a rare glitch and was unavailable for a time , and the iquit.freeforums.net tried to log them instead into the custom domain , which of course failed
Is this a problem your end or do I have my "facts" completely wrong on this ... although I am sure I have accessed the forum through the iquit addy in the past .. I could be hallucinating tho lol!
Thoughts suggestions? ( or even a smack to the back of my idiot head ?)
Cheers FM

Hi The iquit.freeforums.net will allow people to access the forum. The problem they may have encountered is when logging in. In your custom domain settings there is an option tp force onto custom domain when logging in. This means that when you login, it will always redirect to the custom domain regardless of which link you used to initially get to the forum. Would that explain the problem your member encountered?

Hi Craig thanks for chipping in !
In my Custom Domain I see no option to force a domain unless you are referring to the drop down direction preference selector
Nada about logging in scenario???
However to have the forum under the iquit.freeforums it appears an either/or scenario ... Naturally I want people to have the Vaping in Australia Domain at the forefront as I am paying for that privilege lol , but if there is a glitch there I would have to manually "flip the switch " over to freeforums This does allow the members to navigate there , but of course it means I would have to be watching the forum 24/7 for a very unlikely event lol
I guess what I was asking is if there is an AUTOMATIC option for the forum to load on freeforums/net if the custom domain servers fall over ??

Yes, that's the one. That makes it so people are redirected to the custom domain [ or what is selected in the drop down ] when logging in. Unfortunately, you would have to manually flip the switch i'm afraid. I am not sure if there is anything they could implement, so i will leave it to one of the staff members to reply to that

Hi,
I am not sure if we could implement a feature to automatically accomplish this but I will mark this as a feature request as one of our developers might see this and have a clever solution I haven't thought of yet.
