Received my first dose this week, and ended up in urgent care due to my mental and emotional health struggles. Was taken care of and able to return home safely. Arm and shoulder in extreme pain but is now starting to numb. Got fever-like symptoms the first 24 hours and felt weak and faint. I'm really happy that I was able to have this opportunity to serve the community and protect my family, however. You can help your arm by gently rubbing the injection site, like you would a sore muscle. Light exercise also helps. I got my first dose on Tuesday and only experienced some mild sleepiness Tuesday evening + Wednesday all day, and my arm felt like it had a very mild bruise. That feeling was gone by yesterday afternoon and now I feel totally fine! I'm really looking forward to that second dose, so we can go to restaurants and the movie theater again.

I changed my vote as I just got my second jab (Pfizer) today.
This time I actually did feel the needle going in. But no residual soreness or other symptoms.
Done!

I get my second shot this Thursday and my husband (lucky guy) is getting the single dose shot on Saturday. Maybe NOW we can see my mom. It's been more than a year *sigh*.

FWIW, the single-dose J&J is quicker to get vaccinated but does have a slight drawback. You can still be infected with Covid even after any of the vaccines. That's less likely with the Pfizer or Moderna than with the J&J. The good news is, most of those who were infected with Covid after receiving the J&J did not have symptoms that were severe enough to require hospitalization. And none of them died. Has your mom been vaccinated?

Has your mom been vaccinated? Oh yes my Mom was vaccinated in the first wave since she is in a nursing home. Although just recently one of the aides showed up with Covid. It is really difficult to stay away from it unless you really do not go anywhere; see anyone. I do understand that even with the shot we can still get it-this shot is no different from any other vaccination Flu Measles etc)- there is still a chance of getting whatever you are being vaccinated for, but the chance is much slimmer and usually the infection (?) is much less severe. I also understand that like with the regular flu shot we will need a booster every so often. Yeah-Moderna has a what- 95% efficacy and J&J is 85%?

Yeah-Moderna has a what- 95% efficacy and J&J is 85%? Dunno. I've mostly heard 95% for Pfizer and Moderna. I've heard as low as 65% and as high as 85% for J&J

The DW and I received our first Moderna two weeks ago, she felt the injection I did not.
Zero after effects, shoulder much less sore than last falls flu shot.

I'm now qualified for the vaccine, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I had both doses of Pfizer's vax. I'm a 30 year old dude but both doses put me out of commission for a solid day. Absolutely gnarly headache each time and I don't usually get headaches. Tried to sleep it off vecause I was also super fatigued, but kept waking up either blistering hot or freezing cold. If the vax had that effect on me, Covid would have kicked my butt. Glad to have had it.

Did you take something beforehand?
I'm still waiting, In 2 weeks they'll start with the +70 age group over here and the high risk cases. So it'll be a long wait before I get my turn, probably somewhere in June or July. They have promised that everyone (+18) would get their first jab before July 11th, but seeing the supply of vaccines is running slower as promised, that's not a sure thing

Or has your country only just got the vax? We started with the nursing home bound and front-line workers. Then it went from the eldest to the youngest. I agree, I think that J&J is trying hard to keep up (as well as the other companies) but I think all these companies have bitten off more than they can chew.
