Forum URL: bpbasecamp.freeforums.netHi,
I did some research and it looks like there is not direct support for this but I wanted to check.
On the forum I run a curated news feed from outside sources in a thread. Right now for simplicity I paste in URL's and post them. Some members are asking for some kind of preview rather then blind clicking a link. I know that when you post URL's in things like Teams it converts it to a short summary with a thumbnail..
It there any way, without jumping though too many hoops, to do this?
Thanks

Hi,
I don't believe that this would be possible at this time but I will add a feature request label to this thread for the developers to consider in the future.

This could be legally difficult.
The link, copied headlines and screenshots are all fine. Posting a live feed, even as a thumbnail, without special permission can be seen as a breach of copyright.
Lots of news channels would be fine with it if the source was credited. Some, not so much.

Lots of news channels would be fine with it if the source was credited. Some, not so much. Many pages provide metadata and thumbnail images that can be pulled automatically, especially news sites. We do this ourselves for sharing a link to your forum via Facebook or other social media type sites.

Lots of news channels would be fine with it if the source was credited. Some, not so much. This is another reason I wanted to ask. Some of the members are asking me to manually insert a snippet of the article but I would think any sites paid for by advertising and the associated clicks would take issue with their content being used outside the revenue umbrella.

P.S. If this is going to be a feature request I would like to add to make this a format button that you have to insert a link in for this feature. Something you turn on for all posts across that forum would be annoying. Most of the time I would not want links changed to thumbnail summaries.
Thanks for all the help.
